Well I am 10 days post TT and Hernia Repair, and has it been a trip. The absolute very worst was the 1st time out of bed on the 2nd day, I cried from the bed to the chair, after that getting up was managable. I had a cathetor and 2 drains, the cathetor came out the AM of the 3rd day, and the 2 JP drains came out late the 3rd afternoon before I went home from the hosp. and yes it feels much better with drains gone, and no it does not hurt to have them pulled. (I was suprised), I had more pain than usual in center tummy area on day 5, and after a few hours and a few pain pills went to the ER. They did xrays and blood work and an mri. I was constipated from stem to stern (caused by pain meds most likely), and having muscle spasims. They admitted me, and over the next 12 hours I was given 2 enemas, (not a horrible pain, and a gentle way to cause BM to happen). Also was given stool softeners, muscle relaxers, and IV's with potassium as it was low. Then was discharged to home, I am feeling better now, when I am up too much or do too much my tummy gets that tight feeling in the center, and I have to hit the recliner for resting, I take my pain meds as directed and pain is under control. They have me taking Percoset every 6 hours, and Dravocet in between for break through pain. I have not pooped much at all since I've been home, but having been eating too much either, I am watching that carefully, and will call surgeon if I need to. They have started me on stool softners. Not too much to tell for now, but definitely TT it much much painful than rny lap bypass because of the cutting, hip bone to hip bone. But with modern medicine I have made it so far and will be greatly pleased with the results....
