Dena, hang in there. You will do fine. My mom was not thrilled either and would say a few snide remarks (ex. You will be so miserable....Why can't you just each the 4 oz of food NOW and lose the weight etc). Liek eating that much food on a football sized stomach would be easy. Its called STRARVATION mom. LOL Anyhow I know I need this and now that my time is aproaching she is starting to get excited for me. She's asking more questions, already asked for that day off work. Etc. So I guess what I'm trying to say is your mom may turn around once she realizes this IS going to happen. Prayers sent for you! God bless. Jamie

Dena - CONGRATULATIONS on your approval and surgery date. I hope to join you there soon! As far as the smoking goes, we all know that quiting is tough! I quit for 3 1/2 years about 5 years ago and then started back, grab this, when I was on chemo for breast cancer! Anyway, am in the process now again - my doctor prescribed the Nicotrol Inhaler for me and it really does help. It is expensive, but I have found that I don't use any where near the amount that is recommended each day. Therefore, not as expensive as you start out thinking it is. Good luck and if you need to vent, please email me.

Dena, Congrats on the approval and the surgery date. You might copy off some information about the surgery and give it to your Mom. Often when others are unsupportive they are afraid of all of the "what if's" of surgery. Sometimes reading another persons story and how much surgery has impacted the live of that person is a powerful testimony as to how different life can be. Each of us had people that were unsupportive but you have to do what it right for you. Best of wishes to you. KimmieTN
