Angel reporting ^j^ -- Good morning, all...
Good news! I spoke with Lisa Thelin last night and she is doing much better!! The doctor's were at a stand still trying to understand why she's been unable to keep anything down for many weeks after the dilatation didn't work, but they had the foresight to request a consult with a nutritionist who promptly put her on IV nutrition, fluids, extra potassium, etc. She has since regained much of her strength and the nausea has almost subsided completely. Woohoo! She wants me to pass along a BIG THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE PRAYERS AND PRAYERS AND PRAYERS AND GOOD WISHES!!!!
She will still be hospitalized for 1-3 weeks to get inpatient PT to build her strength up again. She is barely able to stand and unable to walk due to the stress and lack of nutrition on her muscles, but she has turned a corner and is doing MUCH better. Her weight loss is 115 lbs for 3 1/2 months!
I also have a funny note: (I am just full of cheer today) ...I had a dream last night that I was having surgery, but my surgeon was a quack with wild hair and big handlebar mustache and his assistants arrived via car (and drove it right into the operating room! He hopped out (left the lights on, I think) and pulled the instruments together). My health care background makes me a little anal about infection control, so I was fussing at the assistants because they kept touching the instruments without gloves! Finally, the surgeon put me under and then grabbed a scalpel (no gloves). I remember yelling at him, saying "hey, mister, I'm not under! WHERE ARE YOUR GLOVES?" I then awoke quite rattled. Hopefully, my surgeon's team doesn't resemble these wackos! Thanks for listening!
