Mark, I am wishing you a successful, complication-free surgery and a smooth, quick recovery. I had my open RNY on 12/10/01 and have absolutely NO regrets other than not having this surgery several years sooner. It is, without a doubt, the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you start your healthy new life.

First I want to thank all of you for your suport and well wishes it really does give me a lift! I went for my PAT tue the 26'th. Things went pretty quick once We got there (my wife and I) I had some short paper work to fill out then it was straight to the rest room to fill a cup followed by a trip down the hall to the lab for my blood work, another trip across the hall to slip into one of those fancy robes they have and then a Ultrasound. I was then sent next door for xray's. Then I was shown to a private room where my wife Lisa was waiting (Can't say enough good things about my wife, she has stood by me through everything) Then a steady parade of nutritionalist, respitory therapist, RN's to do an EKG, and answer more of my questions, and I got to meet another surgeon there that day "Haas"? He was a really nice person with a great sense of humor and put me at ease with some concerns I had. He did tell me though that the first two days SUCK. After that its down hill. The respitory therapist gave me some device (I forget what its called) to start practicing my breathing upto and after surgery. Got to also practice how to cough using a pillow to hold me together. I would be lying if I did not say I am nervous, but yet very excited as this day draws nearer! Catchya all LIGHTER.

Well I made it through my PAT with flying colors on Tue the 26'th. They zipped me right in to pee in a cup, take my blood, Ultrasound, A few xray's and then I was off to a private room where my wife Lisa was already waiting (Can't say enough good things about her, been my suport through all this and more!!) Got to meet with with several of the staff, seemed like I no longer got to meet one person like the respitory therapist learn some breathing techniques that I will have to practice upto and after surgery, Then the next person was coming in as the last was walking out! Don't remember too many names but all were nice. Each had a different job to do with me like EKG, Physical and weight, Training on how to breath and cough and so on. Got to meet another surgeon to, doctor Haas? . He was very nice and even had a great sense of humor, told me everything was looking good on my part and there should be no delays in keeping my date. He did tell me that the first two days SUCK, after that its all downhill! Found out today that I am to be there at 11:00, 12:00 my time and that I am the fourth scheduled for the day. Just hope that when he does get to me he is not feeling rushed to wrap up a long day at work. LOL ô¿ô

Mark - Good to meet someone who is having surgery at the same center (not to mention the same doc!) Looking forward to meeting you in the hallways after surgery (race you around the nurses station!) See you on the other side!
