Holly!!!! the anxiety you feel is absolutely normal. if you read my story I told everyone that i read the memorial page daily at work and i would boo hoo. Holly my advice to you is to simply pray and ask the lord to let his will be done. you are absolutely correct manyhave died from this surgery but Holly most were because of the compliations that they had prior to the surgery. I know you have done your researched so you know that 2% of bariatric surgeries have lea to untimely demises. my heart truly goes out to the families but i truly believe that the lord will not put anything onyou you can't handle. I had absolutely NO support and was told I could die, why would i want to put my family through this etc. But like I said I believed in the lord and 1 year and 175lbs lighter I feel truly blessed. For me my doctor sinched it when he said how many 60 year olds do you see 400lbs? (that was my weight pre op) Holly my advice would be to just pray and research, research everything and you will do fine. god bless

HOLLY~~Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined. Dream what you want to dream. Go where you want to go. Be what you want to be because you have only one life and only one chance to do all the things you want to!!

Holly, Yea you can do it. It is called Point of Service option and they will cover 60%. I did this and my surgeon and hospital have been great on working with me on the balance I owe! Tami

Hi Holly, My first two weeks as post op was 2 servings of sugar free jello a day and 64 oz of water.. although I was allowed to have chicken broth..just the thought made me feel nausia...but remember through this EVERY doctor is different... and they all have different diets.. my first soft protein was beans from taco bell believe it or not.. the nutritionalist said we had a choice of poached egg, beans from taco bell, or cottage cheese(non fat).... My guide lines are 2-3 meals a day and NO snacking and 64 oz of water... Hope this gives you an idea.... Take care... :)

HOLLY~~ You are blessed to have a supportive husband. As supportive as he was when you mentioned it, I don't think he was researching because he thought you were a fat cow. He was probably really concerned about your health and happiness.

I read alot when I was studying the different surgeries. You do have to chew your food to the consistency of applsauce when you have a RNY surgery. And it can get stuck if you don't or eat too fast. That was one of the reasons I turned down that surgery. I found the doudenalswitch surgery.(DS) There are no chewing restrictions and after a few months, you get to eat what you want.Check out site www.mywls.com or www.duodenalswitch.com These could be helpful.Leslie E.
