It has been a while since I've posted but I read every single day. This is still the most amazing thing I've ever done for myself. As of last Wednesday (12-11-02), I have lost exactly 50 pounds and 29 inches. I've now surpassed any previous weight loss amount (ever), and I weigh less than I have in the last 9 years. I only have 50 more pounds to lose, so I'm halfway to goal, but honestly, if I never finish the last 50, I'm so happy weighing 184 pounds.
I made it through Thanksgiving eating small portions of pretty much anything, including a small slice of pumpkin pie, and I still lost 5 pounds over that week and weekend. I had a terrible bout with steak a week later, however. I got very sick and threw up pretty hard and my stomach hurt for a couple of days. That was scary, and I think I'll be avoiding steak for a while longer.
I read this site everyday and continue to learn new things. I finally found a protein shake that I like -- it is ProBlend 55 Alpine Vanilla. I got a hand blender for an early Christmas present and it helps to mix everything and keep it from being lumpy and grainy. I highly recommend getting one.
Two of my friends are now in the process of being approved for WLS. Both of them are lucky enough to have insurance coverage (dogs! lol), and I'm excited to know that people around me are taking this exciting journey as well. I feel incredible, even if nothing in my closest fits.
Over Thanksgiving, I went shopping at Target (!!) and got some size 15 low waisted, bell-bottom pants that were very outside my character, but I was assured they looked terrific. I bought a peasant shirt to go with it and I wore the whole outfit to my work Christmas party last night. I felt a little strange because the style was so different for me, but I still enjoyed it. I'm wearing mostly size 14, but those are quickly becoming too big and financially there isn't anything I can do about more clothes. I went to Goodwill but had no luck. Santa has said he would like to bring new clothes to me, but he doesn't want to waste his money when they won't fit in a couple of months (or weeks at this rate! lol).
