April 25, 2003,
Well its been 25 days since surgery and I have lost 25 pounds!
Since day 10 I have been on a soft food diet and it has been pretty easy to follow. By now I am supposed to be introducing more meats and things to my diet along with some pastas still staying away from the breads, chicken, corn and rice.I think the hardest habit to break in the begining was not to drink with my meals. I made that mistake once and like I was told it was a VERY uncomfortable feeling. The only way I know how to describe it is to compare it to when you unplug the bathtub drain, and imagine that in slow motion inside your tummy. Not good.So I have learned to drink after eating and I am now working on waiting as long as I can to do that. (one thing at a time)Old habits are hard to break and we sure have had alot of practice!
During the first two weeks of my weight loss I thought "this is going to be a breeze". Because the weight was just falling off. Then when my third week hit I stopped loosing.Five days went by... nothing. In fact, I had even gained a pound. Boy was that a reality check.
Not only was I going to have to change the eating habits I was going to have to change other habits also and sooner than I had expected.
Time to exercise!
I hadn't realized that I was walking when I had gotten home from the hospital and some where along the way I had stopped and so had the weight loss. Bet you can't guess what I am doing again!
Bye for now, I will let you know how I am doing in a few more weeks...
