Jaimie, You have every right to be nervous and anxious about your surgery. You are undergoing a major surgery which will dramatically improve your quality of life. There are many unknowns, will I be able to do this, will I be able to eat..ABC, will I lose all that I want to, etc. Know that thousands of others have been in your shoes and have proceded and found success. Slow down, take a deep breath and relax. There is a lot of hard work ahead of you but you can do this!! Best of wishes to you. KimmieTN

Hi Jaimie: I had my Lap Rny about 3 weeks ago, 3-27-03 and I felt just like you are right now. I was nervous and scared and it seemed no one around me understood what I was going through. What your feeling is perfectly normal. Just remember how wonderful you will start to feel and look once you get over to the "losing" side. A whole new way of life is around the corner and it will be so wonderful for you. The first week or so I was sore and really tired but it does get better. Just take it slow and go a pace that fits you. This site has been wonderful and supportive for me and I know it made the difference. E-mail me if you would like to chat, [email protected] Take care and best wishes to you. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers,

Hi Jaimie, I just read your post asking for some support from those of us who already had WLS. I quess I will put my 2 cents in, who knows, maybe it will help. I am post-op exactly 3 weeks today and I am feeling great. I had an open RNY Mar 26th and have already lost 23 lbs. I am still tired and get weak alot but this is major surgery and it's only been 3 wks. I remember my few days before surgery and how badly I wanted to talk to people who had surgery already. It helped some what but I was still nervous. I do know one thing though. Everyone's experience with this surgery is different and everyone's pain thresh hold is different so just try to stay calm and think about how great you are going to look this summer!! You are going to be sore for a little while but the pain for me was NOTHING compaired to how I thought it was going to be. My imagination really had me thinking I was going to suffer horribly and I really didn't. I hurt but not terribly and not very long. You will be fine and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a safe surgery and a easy recovery. Please let me know how you did when you are up to it. You hand in there!! I'll see you on the loosing side!!!

Hi Jaimie~ I am wishing you the very best for your surgery, recovery, and weight loss. I know how scarey it can be. I am a mother of 4, ages 2-12, and it scared me at times. Just keep thinking positively, when those scarey or bad thoughts come in your mind, just close your eyes and picture a door slamming shut on those emotions. You realy can't let your emotions freak you out. Just remember to deep breath alot after surgery, get up and walk, even if it hurts, and use common sence. I'll be praying for ya. ~ Sandy

You will do great. It's normal to have all those feelings. Just keep a good attitude about the whole thing and it will all go your way. Keep telling yourself that you can do this and think of the great rewards that will come with weight-loss. It's a wonderful journey! Soft hugs :0)

Hi Jaimie... My mom had gastric stapling about 15 years ago. She is doing great. My sister-in-law had open RNY in Jan. 2003. She had no complications and was back on her feet in no time. I am in the process of taking the steps to have Lap RNY myself. I will be praying for you during your journey.
