Minid, I had my surgery at 38 years old, I only wish I'd done it when I was your age! This is a very personal decision, one you'll have to make yourself but for what its worth my only regret is not having done it sooner. Best wishes to you!

Hi Mindi...just wanted to say we've all been there/done that! It was very scary for me those last couple of weeks, but as the day came closer I actually felt better. I was really going to do it. And I did...6 months ago. I only wish I could have found an answer when I was 20...you have your whole life ahead of you. Best wishes to you. Yvonne

Mindi, I am wishing you a safe, complication free surgery and a smooth, quick recovery. I had my Open RNY on 12/10/01 and have absolutely NO regrets other than not having done it several years sooner. I can honestly say, without a doubt, that this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. God bless you as you start your healthy new life. As far as being afraid of dying, your chances of living are VASTLY greater and your young age will be an advantage to you. You are so courageous and so fortunate to be able to do this while you are still so young. You have your whole life ahead of you. Think of the fun, the relationships and the years of good health you have to look forward to. How exciting! Good luck to you, hon, and keep in touch. Dear Mindi~~~~~CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! on your upcoming surgery. There's a roller coaster ride of emotions that a lot of us have gone through preoperatively--hang on, it's a heck of a ride but we'll be here to lend support.
