Hi~~ Just wanted to wish you ALL the best with your upcoming surgery. I'm 5 days post op and know the first couple of days are gonna be rough on you....in fact up until Saturday morning in the hospital, I couldn't believe I'd put myself thru such hell (nose tube, IV, etc). The soreness hasn't been a big issue for me yet---liquid or crushed ibuprofen seems to be working ok. My advice for anyone after surgery: as soon as the doc/nurses give you leave to walk, do as much of it as possible. It'll get you home quicker. Lord bless you and keep you as safe & comforable as possible.

Benny, I am so glad to hear you are OK! It will be your turn soon and you will begin your new healthy life. You are lucky to have had such a thorough oncologist. I am glad they caught their mistake. I'm sorry you had to be put through that scare...it must have been very frightening. You are OK and that is what matters most! Now you can go on with your WLS plans. Good for you Benny!

Hi Benny,I just read your post on the messageboard and could'nt help but want to write you say how verry blessed you are to not have cancer.And now you can go own and have the surgery.I HAD CANCER IN 1994,SO FAR NO MORE HAVE SHOWED UP. YES i FEEL BLESSED TOO.My prayers are with you to have a speedy recovery and try not to worry it is Gods will you will do fine.I HAD MY lap surgery 2mo agoI'VE LOST65 POUNDS.i did weigh 346.I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER.YOU WILL BE SUPRISED HOW JUST LOOSING 20-30-POUNDS WILL FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. Benny, I am so sorry that you have been through so much. What a scary ordeal. I am so happy that you do not suffer from cancer and can go forth with your planned surgery date. May God guide your surgeon and hold you as you heal. KimmieTN

Well I know I have updated in a while. I wanted to make sure what was going to happen. I was told I have squamous cell carcinoma in my esophagus.(cancer). My surgery was called off. I saw an oncologist at Oschner's in New Orleans. He indicated if the pathologist is correct, I would have to remove a section of my esophagus. But before that he wanted the pathologist at Oschner's to review the slides. In the meantime, Dr. O'Connell sent my slides to a pathologist in Cincinnati. To make a long story short, both the pathologist in Cincinnati and the pathologist at Oschner's indicated I did not have cancer afterall! Therefore my surgery has now been rescheduled for January 17th. I have had so many good wishes and prayers for me and my family through these trying times. I thank God for all of you who have prayed for me. Thank You.
