I'm glad that the ER found the problem and was able to fix it. Now you can get back to the business at hand and recover. Take it easy please. Also, let us know how you are doing. I hope that this is a speedy recovery for you. Bless you.

Dear Barb, I just read your story! WOW! I am so sorry that you've had to endure so many obstacles! I'm sure that you'll overcome them though! Please, please take care of yourself and just remember that you'll make it through! Best Wishes~

I got an email from Barb. Can you believe that she has already lost 33 pounds and her surgery was on Friday?????? Unbelievable!!! The doctor took out her gall bladder, appendix and of course did the DS switch. She says she is feeling fine and has started eating red Jell-O.. boy I can remember those days! The only thing she is having a hard time dealing with are sweet tasting drinks. Her doctor wants her to drink Gatorade for the electrolytes but she gags on that. She said she would kill for a good cup of coffee!!! I just cant get over how great she is doing! Go Barb!!!!!

Oh my gosh!! I waited till this evening to call Barb (it is almost 6:00 her time) and when I called the hospital.. they said she had been released earlier this afternoon!!! Sheesh! She must be doing fantastic! I feel bad that I didn't get to talk to her. I am not going to bother her at home right now as I am sure she is resting up. I will give her another day and then I will call. I am so proud of you Barb!!! Write me when you feel like it! ILY... Dana

***Update*** I spoke with Barb on the phone!!! She didnt want to talk long because she is ready to get moving!!!! She is wanting to walk! She is in absolutely NO PAIN. She isnt even on a morphine pump!!!!! She had a few spasms and then took a pill but other than that.. she isnt on any pain meds!! Unbelievable!!!!!! She has a great room on the corner with a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge!!! She said they will release her not tomorrow but the next day. I am so proud of her! Before I spoke with her she was doing her breathing exercises! Judith said she looks so good and is absolutely amazed at her recovery! I am just absolutely astounded that she isnt on a morphine pump.. heck.. .I remember the day after my surgery I was hitting that thing as much as I could!!! I'm so proud of you Barb and welcome to the other side!!!

**** UPDATE!!!!***I got Judith's message last night.. BARB CAME THRU WITH FLYING COLORS!!*** Wooo Hoooo!!! She also said that Barb's color was MUCH better this time than the last time and she was alert and looked 'raring to go' after surgery! Way to go BARB!!!! Welcome to the other side sweetie-pie!!!!!! Judith said on the message that Barb was resting up last night so I havent called yet today. (there is a 3 hour time difference between she and I). I will call later this afternoon and check on her. I am sure she is still doing great! THANKS for everyone's support!!! Surgery went off without a hitch and her asthma didnt bother her one bit! Woo Hoo!!!

Dear Barb~~~~~Just wanted to say that I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and a rapid recovery. I had an open DS done on 2-8-01-I would do it again in a NOO YAWK minute. I hope things go easily for you. Be well; Blessed be.Lorraine
