Judith Holtz, It sounds like you are deeply depressed. Wanting to kill people is scary. Seek help and get the help you may need. After wls many people do get depressed but I don't think to the extent of wanting to kill people because they are happy about their wt loss. I get depressed sometimes but it is only with my darn scale. what I do is refocus and do some changing. I have my ups and downs but I fine ways that needs to be changed and fix them. I hope you will get some help and get better so you can deal with yourself and your journey. You hang in there and try to focus. God Bless and take care ~*~Hugs~*~

Dear Judith: You are definitely not alone. I had my surgery just shy of 7 weeks ago and I still have a LOT of muscle pain (not incisional pain although I have packing in my incision in 3 open areas). I really push myself to move my body and this does seem to help. As far as the emotions, I have had panic disorder for 18 years and am not yet back to taking my medication and as a result I am sometimes downright mean! Plus I'm per-menopausal and that certainly does not help. I think another reason I've had some periodic depression is my long absence from the work force (I did return to my job last Friday, finally). I have felt like I was vegetating here at home and it felt great to be with my coworkers again. Please e-mail me anytime you need support. Blessings. Cathy

Judith, you are depressed girl!! Very common after WLS> I even had to go back on anitdepressants (Effexor) after a yr 1/2 off them. If this feeling persists please tell your Dr. No need to be so miserable. Hope it passes soon. Jamie (2 months out and down 49 lbs!)

Judith, I just wanted to share that it's normal for post-ops to be depressed after WLS or any surgery for that matter. You may be mourning the loss of food which was a comfort for you before surgery. 50# is an incredible weight loss for 2 months, you would never have been able to loose that much by dieting pre-op. Don't be hard on yourself and compare you loss to others. Each person looses at a different rate. I'm happy for you and wish you the very best as you move forwards towards health and "thinness"

I am glad that you are understanding why you are feeling so blue. I am sorry you didn't get much response from your post. I am new to this, I go to the Dr Info meeting on June 24th. I don't post much in hopes of helping anyone because I haven't been there yet. It doesn't mean I don't care, I just don't know enough about what happens after surgery to add my 2 cents. I truly do hope you will be on the up side of things soon.

Dear Judith: I just wanted to say congratulations on your weight loss. I know how you feel, it would be nice if there was someone who could monitor the boards full-time and respond to those posts when people need some encouragement or when they want to celebrate. That's probably not possible, but I just wanted to let you know that I care! I wish you much continued success on your journey! God Bless
