Hi Vicki, I just wanted to tell you that I finally talked to my doctor about quitting smoking in order to have surgery. I was finding it very difficult just as you said. to much stress in my life to go cold turkey. so I wanted to share with you what she had me do. She prescribed an antidepressant called Wellbutrin starting at 150 mg 1 time per day then increaseing to 2 pills per day after that. I was able to beging cutting back on my smoking but not quit fully until I started the next phase which included using a nicotrol inhaler. The nicotrol inhaler was used a couple times a day at first to replace the normal cigarette then eventually I set a date to quit. I was down to smoking about 5 cigarrettes aday when I set my date. Since I quit (6 weeks)I used the nicotrol for a few days but have been off of it and the butts since. My surgeon requires us to be smokefree at least 30 days prior to surgery and they test for this by doing an arterial blood gas test. Vicki Hello~~Congratulations on your surgery date. Oh=the waiting with all those mixed feeling can be very stressful. Please stay strong and keep your mind on the great prize!! Wish you all the very best on your surgery and may all your dreams come true!!

I am sure everything will be fine. it is normal to be so nervous. I almost threw up just over asking my doc for a referral to the surgeon.!! Good luck and a prayer for you.
