Jean, I notice that we share the same first name. I hope that your surgery goes as well as mine did and that you have an uneventful recovery. I know that you hear horror stories but my journey as been smooth. I have not dumped or vomited once since my surgery May9. I wish you the same good fortune. Jean K

Jean, I'm so sorry that your family is not supporting you. Only you have the right to decide what is best for you. My family thought I had lost my mind, but stood behind me all the way regardless of their feelings. I did so well that my sister had surgery 5 months after I did and now my 63 year old mother is going to have surgery! Just have some faith that you're making the right choice for your future!

Jean, We are ALL behind you here! Here is a web site that has a great letter for family members who don't support your decision.. Check it out. It may be helpful! Keep to your guns! YOU are the only one who can make you happy. Do what you feel you need to do to do that. Go to this site for the letter: http://www.wlscenter.com/Significant_Others.htm Grace and Peace.. Tami

Jean you are in my prayers. I hesitated telling my family b/c I was nervous of the response, and understand what you are going through. I wish you the best of luck! My date is 7/1, and soon we will be loosers together!

Jean - Sorry to hear that certain family members are not giving you their full support. You might be surprised, though, in the end. Certain family members that didn't seem supportive really came through in the end when they realized that I was doing this whether they liked it or not. I did a lot of educating people because they either thought it was a horrible last resort or like you said, as simple as a tonsillectomy. Don't give up on them and hopefully they haven't given up on you. Good luck for your big day. I'm sure you'll do just great! Heidi
