Diane my suggestion would be to get anything that was said to you in writing. Do not cancel your appeal appointment just yet. After getting this in writing and getting the information needed from your doctor, then set up an surgery date. It would be to your best advantage not to cancel your appeal date until you know for sure you are having your surgery. dj

Sorry I don't have an answer for you but I had some observations that were worrying me. I remember reading about another lady who was denied surgery cause her insurance company said her diabetes was under control and so weight loss surgery wasn't needed. I would ask the person who phoned me if they would put what they said to you in writing and sign and date it. I know I sound paranoid but I don't trust insurance companies. They want profits and everything else is moot. It almost sounds like they are trying to wrap things up so no appeal will be sucessful for you. If they have a letter from your doctor that says you are doing well with medications then they can argue your blood pressure and diabetes are under control then there is no need for surgery. Keep posting your question on the message board til you get some real answers on how to proceed. Even ask the person who phoned you about this. Maybe if you are honest and bold with them they will be too surprised to stutter a lame excuse. It might give them a shock you are on to their game. If your doctor believes your diabetes is out of control and you need surgery to help you be normal then that's the truth and I wouldn't have my doctor say/write otherwise. I hope I am wrong but I really smell a rat. I'm posting this as an update so if I'm way off base then people will correct me immediately and calm your fears and give you some good advice. Best wishes to you on getting your surgery Diane. Big Hugs.
