Hi Everyone, Just checking in. Haven't been here for quite a few days. We are getting ready to move from Northern Utah to Southern Utah, so we have been busy packing up. We move on the 1st August. I have cleaned out my closet and all the shirts that hang on me I gave away. I have gone from a 28/30 down to 18/20, and have now lost 56 lbs since surgery 2-1/2 months ago. I'm so proud of myself! LOL!! I was only getting about 20 grams of protein a day, so I got some of Dr. Atkins shakes. Now I get at least 40 gr. and have gone back to losing about 1-lb a day. I had just about stopped losing. I didn't realize JUST how important protein was. I just couldn't eat enough to get enough. Hope you are all doing well, or hanging in there if you are still waiting. Talk to you again soon.

Hello Everyone, I was reading someones webpage, and she was saying how much protein she ate for breakfast. I think this surgery took away my brain, because I can't remember who it was or how much protein she ate , and it was only 5 mins. ago that I read it. All I was told was to eat two oz. of food, a protein, 3 times a day and if I need it a protein snack. How many grams of protein am I supposed to be eating a day? I am 2 months out of surgery. Sometimes I eat more than the two ounces, and still get hungry every 2-3 hours. Is this normal? I would appreciate any advice on how much I should be eating, and which foods provide the most protein. Thanks so much. I don't know if I am eating enough or not.

Hi Carole. I am so sorry for the distress you are going through with your WLS and too your knee. I had to laugh though at Tamara's post of being thankful the nausea is NOT caused from pregnancy!!! LOL I can relate to that for just last night, after throwing up my supper, I teased my 28 y/o daughter that I thought in 8 mths. she was going to get a lil brother!!! LMAO!! Anyhow Carole about the nausea, I don't have the nausea just the throwing up. *sigh* I think it has to do with my eating, my eyes are still bigger than my new little tummy! So I eat too much! Just like a lil baby, if you feed it too much, what does he do, spit up! *light bulb moment* My surgeon did send me home with a liquid medicine for nausea if I did experience it, but I never did. So I have a $100 bottle of medicine going to waste. But hey, that sure beats the nausea. I know I have been no help to you, I just wanted you to know I care!! Carole, just try to stay positive with your thinking, saying the next day will be better, stay focused on your mission!! I do think 35 lbs. in 5 wks. is great!! Good luck with your knee. And just follow your surgeon on the wound care. My best to you! (((((HUGS)))))

Hi Mom. Thanks so much for telling me about this site. I don't think I would have the courage to go through with this if it wasn't for you. I know you are having problems with your knee right now, but have faith that Heavenly Father is aware of you and what you are feeling. Remember the "Footprints in the Sand"? Well, He will carry you.(He knows your knee is messed up! LOL) Anyway, keep your chin up and be grateful that the nausea isn't related to morning sickness! :-) Love you.

Hi Melissa, Thank you for your sweet thoughts. My surgery date came out wrong somehow. It showed as June 5th and it was actually on May 6th. Thank you for thinking about me Hugs Carole

Hi Amy and Donna,(and everyone) thanks for your postings. I am doing pretty well. My weight loss has come to a grinding HALT! I am doing my best to stay on my diet. I eat 2-3 times a daY, 2X1-oz cups a meal, usually all protein, unless I'm craving veggies, then I will have 1-1/2 oz protein and then top up the cup with veggies. I know from regular diets that if you don't eat enough, you can put your body into "Starvation" mode and it hangs on to everything. I suspect though it is because I am not able to walk right now, plus I am retaining fluid. I have a torn miniscus in my right knee and it is very painfull to walk. Tomorrow (Monday) I have to make an appointment to see an ortho surgeon. Yes, another surgery; but compared to WLS, this shouldn't be anything! LOL!!! Hope everyone is well Hugs Carole
