On hold
Dec 25, 2011
Its been a year one month and a half since my lapband surgery. The day of surgery i weighed in at 438Lbs. Now i am about 381. So that is about 57Lbs losted. I am happy about that because now I can fit things in my closet that I havent been able to wear in about 5-10 years. Honestly I wont to lose more faster. I could but I fall off the wagon all the time, plus I stopped exercising too. I had a bump in the road recently. In 2008 I was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer. I had 2 surgeries to have the mass removed and had 2 months of radiation. About 6 months ago the mass came back and spread to one of my lungs. So now I'm doing chemo and that has put a damper on my weight loss. The side effects of chemo are no joke. You lose your appetite and you lose your taste buds for weeks. But now that I'm pretty used to chemo and know what to expect I can move on and continue this weight loss journey. I will not let anything stop me from getting down to my goal weight. I had to go to youtube and watch videos to get motivated again. I will not let this disease get the best of me or stop me from reaching my goals in life...

Figured it out...

I have been wondering what makes me gain weight and what makes me lose weight. I've been making better eating choices and sticking with drinking water. I was never a water drinker but now I chose to drink water other than anything else. I am excited to see where this journey leads me but most of all I want to live a healthier life. I want to be able to choose the healthier foods with no problem. This journey is going to be hard work but I know with dedication and prayer I can do it.
Within the last couple of weeks I've found that I can't eat certain things because I will gain. Now that I know these things I can have a successful weight loss journey. It takes some time getting used to when your mind is involved. Before when I would eat my stomach would be full but my mind would say "eat more, you are still hungry." I had to control that. It is all mental and it can be hard at times. Just continue to push and WE will get through this. I pray for all my fellow WLS peers. Hang in there and push through the pain. No pain no gain...

its been a long while since i've been on here and i guess thats why i've been off track. i need this site for motivation and support. i will never leave again...Lol
i just recently had my second fill or third. Before this fill i was able to eat a fair amount of food plus i wasnt exercising and following my diet plan. for about 2 months my weight went up and down. i would lose 10LBS then gain 11. i got lazy and wanted to just live on junk food and sugar drinks. i had to get my mind right and figure out what i was gonna do about maintaining my new life I've been blessed with. so i scheduled to see my sergeon for a fill. i am feeling alot better. the first couple of days i stuffed myself but i had to get mind control becuz when i would eat my belly was full but my mind would say keep eating, ur not full. so now that im working on that i am also working on portion control. being able to stop eating when i am full and not to put more on my plate than i can eat. now i see why people say that it is hard to have WLS, its a psychological thing. u have to gain control of ur emotions for food.
now that i am back on track i plan on working out almost everyday if not that, everyday!
i did pretty good today with meals...
BREAKFAST= PROTEIN SHAKE; SKIM MILK, SUGAR FREE ICE CREAM AND DESIGNER WHEY
LUNCH= SALAD; GREEN LEAF LETTUCE, CRAB MEAT, MAYO & GARLIC, WITH PEACHES IN A CUP (LITERALLY 1CUP OF PEACHES) ON THE SIDE.
SNACK= MENCHIES YOUGURT; WATERMELON FLAVOR NO DAIRY OR SUGAR. & A BANANA.
DINNER= GRILLED STEAK WITH GARLIC AND CORN.
i am so motivated right now that I've lost 11LBS since last Wednesday.

the easiest part was having surgery, but now the hard part starts. when i came home from the hospital the following day i was told to continue liquid diet until further notice. lets just say that that didn't last. that liquid diet only lasted a few days. my stomach was hurting cuz i was hungry and i didn't no what to do. i know i wasn't suppose to eat mushy foods yet but i made some homemade mash potatoes. i boiled some potatoes, peeled them, mixed it with some low fat buttermilk and seasoning...they were good. i have been eating them since Friday. i also would eat yogurt during the day cuz every few hours i was hungry. i have been drinking water all day everyday. I'm not sure if i need a fill or not becuz i feel a lot of restriction. i can only eat 4oz at a time. so honestly i have been eating about 4 times a day with water in between.
I've been pretty much experimenting or seeing what i can tolerate becuz come a month out i will be planning my meals and starting my exercise routine.
so far i have tolerated Yoplait light yogurt, fat free string cheese, homemade mash potatoes without butter, skim milk, sugar free jello, diet iced tea, applesauce natural, and I'm going to try boiling some yams.
i am still working on this mind thang when it comes to food. its hard to change my eating habits that i have been used to for the past 31yrs. i can be sitting here full but my mind will be like...oh... look at that ice cream! gone get cha some. u always have room for dessert. HELLO!!!!!!!! my stomach can only hold 4oz of food at a time. mind tricks are a B*TCH!
i haven't had any problems with nausea or vomiting. i just had some gas and hunger pains but i took care of that...Lol
today i went to trader Joe's and bought some DESIGNER WHEY french vanilla so i can start making protein shakes in the morning. if anyone has any tips, concerns or advice please feel free to hit me up.
by the way...i can already start to see my body slim down. i used to wear a bra extender and now i don't need it anymore. i just took it off today.
this has been a long week...

it has been a couple of months since i've written anything. i've just been grinding my butt off trying to make this surgery happen. i had to have a UGI, psych eval and some other stuff. i just finished last week on the 6th of Oct.
Last Thursday the Bariatrics center submitted my authorization to my insurance company and i got the approval yesterday. i just kept praying to GOD that my day was near. i just got off the phone with my surgeons nurse scheduling a date. my day is Oct. 25, 2010. exactly 12 days from now i will be a lap band patient. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!!!!!!
