Hello, I'm Neff. I have never been thin so I have no idea of what to expect or what to think. All my life I was the biggest out of the group, cute...but big. Growing up I stayed active with Skiing and Roller Skating. But the older I got the bigger I got. When I got to High School I weighed in at a whopping 300lbs. I was big but I was confident and knew I was cute no matter what people said or thought. All my life I was taught to love myself no matter what, so I did. Over the next 13yrs I packed on the pounds. Honestly I looked down on WLS because I was in denial thinking I could lose the weight myself without any help. I've tried numerous diets but nothing would keep the weight off. So now here I am...
I have been researching lap band for a couple of months. I even found a surgeon while doing so. In April something just clicked in my mind that said "You need help! You cannot do this on your own." While discovering this wonderful tool I found hundreds and thousands of people just like me, struggling with their weight. Over the past 4 months I have been inspired and educated about what we are all battling with. Good luck and may GOD continue to bless each and every one of you thru your WLS journey.

On Aug.11,2010 I went to have a consultation with Dr. Korman. This was the surgeon I was researching and decided to go with. Come to find out that this was the surgeon that my PCP sends his patients to. It took some convincing to get my insurance to approve me to even see Dr. Korman, which they did. I got all the info I needed and they gave me a list of test I need to get before going forward with submitting authorization to my insurance company.
I am excited and ready to start this journey to a healthier life. I have all these different emotions inside of me. "Is this really gonna happen? Will I finally know what it's like to be slim? Will I finally be able to go and buy a regular size pair of jeans?"
I love shopping so look out mall, here I come...

well...I just got home from the hospital. I am feeling a lil sore but no major pain. The Doc prescibed some liquid pain medicine but I will vomit if i was to take that. I heard a lot of people say that they have a lot of pain from gas but I havenet experienced that.
This is my second day being banded and it's really not that bad. I have already lose 3.62lbs in one day. when i was in the hospital over night i really didnt want to eat. mostly i just drank water.
now that im home the real challenge starts...
