St Luke's Hospital Hospital

I really enjoyed my stay here. I had a private room at the end of the hall but stairs and the nurses taking vitals was my only real complaint. But I had privacy for the most part was allowed to keep my door shut. They also allowed my new husband to stay with me even brought him a folding cot bed thing to put next to me both nights of my stay. I had 2 nurses that came when I called and both encouraged me to walk. I was told why I could not have things when I wanted so it was clear in my head. Like I could not have ice until after 6. Even tho as I write this I do not know why cause I was high and forgot. On my 2nd day when I had issue with my IV they allowed me to say take it out. on the 3rd day before going home and I spiked a fever the nurses helped get it down so I could go home. In my opinion I had a good time. I even had my laptop in my room the whole time and when I left to walk and came back, IT WAS STILL THERE....

Communication in recovery was poor. I was there for 6 hours and was allowed to see my family for literally 8 minutes. The nurse did not update my family in waiting room of my status. The nursing staff on the inpatient unit was less than attentive. My urine hat was emptied once a shift, the nurse my first night did not see me until 10:15 pm when her shift started at 7pm, the nurse the second night did not see me until 9:30pm. I had an allergic reaction to the IV pain medication I was put on immediately post-op and had no one address the issue until the next morning and nursing was very slow in providing me Benadryl. Overall communication was poor and I was very disappointed in my experience...especially considering I am a nurse in that facility.
