The stay in all was OK. I live out of town as does all the people I know and someone told my visiting guest they can't come in cause I was sleeping. They were just being nice..and once I let them know they were coming a good distance away nothing else happened. The worst think was they would forget to give me my meals sometimes. I had to call once maybe three times to get something to eat as well as remind them that I have to have a protein shake. I think the staff needs to be better trained and the person answering the call nurse button should be more able to pass the message or whatever, so things can get done as soon as possible.
Everone one was really nice and anything you needed you got it you didn't have to wait for hours to get it.
The aides and nurses were really great when you could actually get them to your room. They are either under staffed or over worked. I hated the intercom in the room. When I push my call light, I want someone to come and ask me what I need. Instead you get this person that you don't even know, saying "May I help you", of course you can. So you tell them, and who know's who else, what you need and they say they will tell your nurse or aide. Very impersonable. I HATED IT!!
The staff are very kind and responsive. There was a small delay after my surgery to get my morphine started but after that my pain was under control and all was well. I wanted to get up and walk after my surgery and they happily helped me get unhooked from everything. The day after surgery I was ready for a shower and I was accomodated. I had private rooms through-out my stay. It was a very nice time. They even helped me get out of bed at 2am when I wasn't tired....I had about 6 people in my room...they must have all been bored...haha
The Nurses in ICU were so fabulous. When I was moved out to a "regular" floor, the RN's were also very good.
Post Op in ICU the staff was excellent, I always had someone checking on me seeing if I needed anything, and asking how I was feeling, and someone was always there to walk with me. But the 2nd day when I was send to 9th tower, the staff there was very poor. It took forever got get someone to come and reset my IV when it started beeping, no one walked with me the whole time I was on that floor, I just roamed around in my room. There is a lot more I could say but I'll just leave it at that.
