St Anthony's Hospital Hospital

Staff were not as attentive as they should have been to patients. Not once was I gotten out of bed to walk. I had to take the initiative on my own. I ask to wash off and it took 8 hours for me to receive any assistance. I was also placed in a room with three other individuals. That should have not been the case according to my insurance. I did not sleep well and was truly crying because I hated the hospital stay. By the day of my release my bags were packed and I was standing at the door waiting to leave!

well they accidentally broke my front tooth pulling my breathing tube out some ICU nurses ignore my calls for help
adaquate pain meds were only recived in ICU when i administered it myself the last floor i was on before i left was very noisey and always woke me up they dident seem concerned to inform my dr i dident have a bm before i was discharged which led to anohter admission and another 4 days of hell POINT IS THEY SUCK I DONT RECOMEND 2 thumbs down !

The only time I received quality care was the 2 days I spent in ICU. After I was moved to a regular room the care was terrible. I was in the regular room for 4 days and my sheets on my bed got changed twice. I had to ask every time for the supplies and water to take a sponge bath. A piece of gauze was put on my g-tube on Thurs and never checked until Mon. when I was discharged and that was because I took the gauze ogg during my bath and saw that there was an infection at the site. I told the nurse about it and all she did was clean it with saline solution and told me to do the same at home. I was dehydrated and had to ask everytime I ran out of ice chips I had to ask for more - they never checked to see if I had any or not. I heard one nurse say to another, while they were giving the lady in the bed next to me a bath, I don't have time to do the LARGE lady. I was just waiting for her to come to my bed and I was ready to tell her a thing or two. And they all seemed to have the same idea that because a person is overweight that we can only lay in bed and can't get up and move around ourselves. I would never go to this hospital again, even if my life depended on it!!!!

I was taken great care of in the pre-op area and in the ICU. Once I was put into a room, I felt like I was forgotten. I had excrutiating waits for help getting up; getting disconnected from my IVs etc. My 'room mate' that I shared a bathroom with was having her output measured and the staff never would come and change her toilet thing so I could go. I had to get my own water once I was allowed to have it and when I did, the nurse that came in to flush out my NG tube used my drinking water to flush it with-EVERY DAY! My NG tube had green stuff growing in it, I begged to have a new one and to have a new bandage over my central line in my neck. I was never cleaned. My husband had to track someone down and get stuff to wash me because I never was washed or assisted to wash. I felt very neglected and alone.

Nurses were great. The ICU nurse was so nice, hated to have to change to a regular room. All were great during the holiday season and were there for all my needs. The only problem I had was the hospital bed was horrible. It was not an oversized bed, although I was not that overweight, but it was the most uncomfortable one I have ever been in. They eventually changed mattresses and I got one that was at least a step up in the comfort zone. I was there for five days and couldn't wait to go home and work on the comfort level on my own.
