Parkland Hospital
I waited for almost an hour for a wheelchair when I was discharged. I finally got up and just walked out on my own.
I loved the staff...they were very helpful and very understanding. My only problem was the accomodations for guests...which I think is very important. There was a recliner in the room, but it had a terrible odor in it. So my poor mom had to sleep on this nasty recliner for five days.
There were not enough nurses to provide good patient care. My first concious experience was in recovery and there were two nurses and about 6 patients. I was left alone and had a violent reaction to the anesthetic. I did manage to attract their attention by vomiting all over the floor, Which with this surgery your not supposed to do. The patient floors were not much better. I was not offerred a bed bath or sponge bath until I insisted I get cleaned up on the 2nd day. I was finally allowed to get a shower on day 3. There was no am or pm care provided. I had to call the nurse to get a cup of water to brush my teeth. I was NOT impressed. The nurses were nice & polite and provided me with adequate medicine's and IV solutions, but that was about all they did.
overall a very good hospital with up to date services.
