I've was born at this hospital and have been going there every since... first a Navy brat then a Navy wife. Some people do not like military hospitals, but because I've never been anywhere else I am always comfortable there. The doctors and phys assts I talked to were wonderful!

I have had quite a horrible experience with this hospital. I had a huge malpractice case against an oncologist regarding my son who passed away.

However I made my surgeon well aware of the situation and he assured me
I was in good hands. After my experience with my surgery, I can honestly say I was.

Of course the parking is bad, anyone who goes to NMCSD knows that. The surgeons were great at calming me down and helping me feel comfortable with them. The nurses were great in letting me know when to get up and walk around, but they also respected me when I was too tired. They were never pushy or rude.

The staff was excellent and compassionate. Never too pushy or clingy. They gave me lots of space to make myself comfortable. Also, more than a few times, a member of the staff went out of their way to do something for me, get me something, or make me more comfortable. Definitly not what I was expecting from the Navy Hospital!

Overall it was great except for the night staff who blew out all my veins and didn't listen to me. Day staff was excellent!!

I can't complain to much I paid Nothing for the surgery. Dr. Thoman, David S. MD.,F.A.C.S. was very knowlegable and had a great bed side manner.
