CATERED TOO FROM THE BEGINNING.THE NURSES AND THE NURSES AIDES COULD NOT DO ENOUGH FOR ME.
THEY TREATED ME LIKE A VIP.
NEVER HAD TO ASK TWICE FOR ANYTHING
24 HOUR COVERAGE SUPERB
PAIN MEDS ADMINISTERED 2 MINUTES AFTER ASKING EVERY TIME EVEN IF IT WAS 3 OR 4 AM.
TOP NOTCH ALL THE WAY.
DR LIEMS PATIENTS ALL GET PRIVATE ROOMS. BELEIVE ME THEY CATER TO HIS PATIENTS

Nursing staff is excellent. Very attentive and hard working. Always responsive to my calls. The night shift nurses were very considerate when entering the room, using the light from the bathroom instead of turing on the overhead light. The rooms are very small and the the beds are oversized which makes moving around a bit tight expecially when you are tethered to an IV.

The nursing staff was very caring, but many of them were new. I rarely saw the same nurse twice. All Dr. Liem's patients receive a private room. The shower room (not in your room) could use some work. It was very difficult to keep myself balanced on the PVC chair with toilet seat without getting my incision wet.

The pre op testing was fast and easy and the staff is great! The OR prep nurses are great! The assisting doctors and nurses were wonderful. I don't recall being in recovery at all.
When I got to my room it was all down hill from there!!! My surgery was in January (snow bird season) so that may of played into the poor care, or lack of care, I received. My night nurse was good about getting my meds to me and was sorry I had to wait over 1 1/2 hours for them while she was with someone who coded. She didn't understand either why someone else didn't bring them to me. LAZY?? The day nurse I had for several days only spoke to me once and changed my dressing once-the day I left! She didn't even clean the site just tossed new gause on it. I called for her to replace the IV bag and turn the low fluid alarm off 15 min before she went to lunch and an hour and 1/2 later I was heading out the door (broken IV pole in tow) to get her myself and she met me just outside my room "oh, I was at lunch" was her reply "someone should of been covering for me". My family brought my children on post op day 3 and I'm so glad that my sister came a few min before them because she cleaned the crusted blood off of my neck and sholder so my children wouldn't see it. Shower??? I was never even offered a shower. My first 'meal' I was served sliced peaches and fruit juice. A kitchen worker asked me how much I weighed. No kidding! That's just some of the stuff that happened. But Dr. Liem was and still is GREAT!
I have to go back to JFK for hernia repair. My husband will be staying with me. My hospital stay was so bad I seriously considered having another surgeon do the repair!

There is not enough supervision given to insure that the Night Shift carry out the continuity and class of care that is being afforded by the day shift. As a result you leave with a poor taste in your mouth regardless of the great care you get in the day shift. Its the nights that you feel the most pain and when things go wrong. And if you feel that there is just one nurse out there who lacks compassion and could keep you suffering in pain for one and half hours despite repeated requests by several of her coworkers than you are in big trouble, On the good side I comaplained and explained to the appropriate depts and I only hope that JFK responds by educating and taking a good look at their staff........
Very Poor Hospital care!
