Decatur General Hospital Hospital

This hospital is great. The hospital staff, doctors and nurses are wonderful

My doctors were excellent, Dr. Adams is top of the line, he even came to see me on his day off, on Christmas Eve, he didn't have to do that, but he came to see me and check on me because I was going to have to spend Christmas in the hospital because of all the complications I had, the nurses could use a little more training on dealing with WLS patients. I did have two nurses named Cindy that visited me quite often during the day and another nurse named Barbara, at night .Cindy had WLS surgery too, she was really sweet and she helped me any way she could. So I guess to sum it up, its not all bad, but the bad comes with the good.

I actually enjoyed my stay at Decatur Gen'l. I only had one bad experience with one nurse not bring me some to moisten my mouth after surgery. Other than that the staff was very friendly. A couple of staff members who had had the wls came by to see me and gave me tips. They were very encouraging. And I give the hospital an A plus and would highly recommend them.

I had a very large room. It was very quite. It was equipt very well. There was lots of chairs for friends and family.
I learned that if you want to get it cooled off make sure the drapes are pulled back so the air is not all going back behind them and turn the vents around.

I was very happy with my room, nurses were extremely nice and always brought my pain medication quickly and made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I would recommend them to anyone who was having this surgery. They are awesome. And Dr. Chandler did an outstanding job.

Older hospital with many add-ons making a maze out of services. History of not paying nurses well but it is the better hospital in town.

In general, my experience with the hospital would be rated between average and good. The staff was very friendly. I had a very large, private room in a corner off to myself. That was great!
