What can I say about Dr. Poplawski.............LOVE HIM........when I first met him at the Windsor Seminar in April I thought he was the best Doctor for me.....he was very informative and had great skilled hands..........oh and he was funny as heck and that just made my decission easier.....if you are looking for the best surgeon to do this operation I would recommend Dr.Poplawski 200%......He was a straight forward guy...he told you everything you needed to know about the proceedure as well as what it would be like after even the risks.....He wanted me to get below 400lbs before surgery and I acheved this by losing 30lbs...he was happy about this......which made things more easier for him and I both in the end.......I would give him again 200% on his surgical competence as well as bedside manners...he checked on me often which was great....his office staff is soooooo awsome....I felt safe and cared for every min of everyday I was there.....oh and Dr.Poplawski is so darn cute as heck as well....lol......so I say choose Dr. Poplawski and The Barix Clinic all the way.

First impression of Dr. Poplawski a little abrassive, tells the truth and right to the point my kind of guy.rnThe office staff at Barix are wonderful they answer all 1001 of my wife's questions and didnt get frustrated.rnDr. Poplawski is very straight forward, he is compassionate but you can not come in with your heart on your sleeve he will give you the ends and outs and wants you to try to get to the bottom of why you are there not just to lose the weight but wants you to tap into that emotional and mental side of why you are there! rnI just recieved notice that I was approved and cant wait to update on how things are.

* Dr. Pop, Elizabeth Lorge, well just everyone that I met at the Barix Clinic was extremely nice. rnrn* Dr. Pop proved to be very informative rnHe is very straight forward and he said we must not forget how we got obese in the first place and we need to think about this alot after surgery, so we don't sabatoge ourselves and put the weight back on. WLS is only a tool and not a magic fix. It requires much work after the surgery to make the tool work for you. rnrn* My mom and friend were very impressed with him too. rnrn** Once I get my approval, I feel I will be in very good hands............ rnrnThe other thing that was very nice..and I appreciated was he was concerned that we keep our relationships on the good road. ...... he told me to tell my husband two things every week after my surgery  \"I love him and that I'm not going anywhere\" and \"I am not seeing anyone\" He says men do not like to talk about this with their wifes and have fears of this happening as their wifes get more :sexy: beautiful. rnrn* Dr. Pop actually reminds me of a Dr. Phil. He has a very similar personality. Straight and too the point - no beating around the bush. He's great!!!! rnrn* The Barix clinic is the place to be, they specialize is WLS and make you feel very good. The other thing I really like, is they will always be there for us for support even after surgery.rnrn* The clinic was very clean, and very room for people of our size... They understand the beauty from within and do everything to make us feel welcome and not embarrassed from being overweight.rnrnOverall I rate this place a 10 out 10 and I am looking forward to having surgery as I know I will be in good hands.

I love this guy. Down to earth...he seems to really get it. He is a no-nonsense man...I really, really liked him from the moment he gave the orientation talk. And when I met him for the personal consult....he was even better. I am very impressed by his knowledge and research of the effects of trauma (childhood sexual abuse) on weight; and the co-relation between that and MO. Hopefully, my second approval will go through OHIP and I will be able to have my surgery done by such a skilled physician.

I instantly liked him. My impression of him only improved over time. There was nothing I did not like about Dr Pop right from the first meeting. He is an excellent surgeon, compassionate and caring man. He takes each patient very seriously and takes whatever time is needed when you need it. Dr Pop was very thorough in explaining the surgery, the risks, answering all questions completely.

On a scale from 1 to 10...Dr Poplawski is a 25!

Surgical competence, bedside manner are both very important. Of course surgical skill keeps you alive and healthy, bed side manner keeps you happy and at peace. Dr Poplawski has both on the highest level.

There is not one negative thing I can say about Dr Poplawski. Barix is blessed to have him, and I was blessed to have found him.

My appointment was the last one of the day and I thought He was probably tired. He took time to answer all my questions (which were many). At one point he stopped me and said all of his pts. tell him the same things I was telling him. That we all had certain things in common. I felt he understood me as much as someone could who was seemingly not having a problem with their own weight.

When I found out he was only doing this surgery 6 months I almost asked for another Dr. I wanted one who had done about a million RnY's before mine. My family Dr. took a look at his credentials and said,"He was a liver transplant specialist before he started doing this surgery. The liver is the hardest organ in the body to transplant and if he could do that you better stick with him!" I am so glad I did.

I thought his staff was great, but must confess a bias. When I went back for my 1 year appointment they were so impressed they offered me a job as a Patient Counselor. I worked with them for about a year.

His future patients should know that he is now Medical Director for all of the Barix Centers in America. He also feels his weight loss patients are as grateful to him as those for who he transplanted livers. Both are life saving operations, aren't they!!!?

He strongly emphasizes aftercare and support group attendance. He also says that we need to address the reasons we turn to food and overate in the first place. There is lifetime care and they set you up with scheduled appts at the proper times. They give you Support Group information and greatly encourage attendance.

He talked to me about the risk of surgery in general. I did not have major health problems to consider, however.

Sometimes he is so focused he can seem a little abrupt. He takes what he does seriously but overall I think his bedside manner is pretty good. I have seen him with patients and he enjoys laughing.

How would I rate Dr. Pop? Well, I tease him and say that after my husband of 34 years, I love him most of anyone else. He used his expertise on my behalf to give me back my life!

Very nice man. My husband and I both liked him right away. He explained everything that the surgery entailed, how it affects people, how the new stoma works, what my new life will be like. He works at Barix Clinics and they have a very structured program on the procedure. He always seems like he is ready to go! I would not have put my life in anyone elses hands! THANK YOU DR. POP!

I really didn't have much of a first impression, I was trying to take in all of the information he gave me, I did feel is was very informative.

The staff at Barix Clinics are absolutely THE BEST!!

There is nothing that I don't like about Dr. Pop. He is genuine and on the top of my list.

He will answer any question you have, and make you feel comfortable by even asking a "what if" question or two and best and worst case scenarios.
He is very serious but also has a great sense of humor.

Aftercare if very important to Dr. Pop and he will remind you to take care of yourself and call the hospital with any questions, and to keep him informed if anything happens.
He has a very detailed aftercard system for life.

Dr. Pop was very straight forward and even told me I could die, that he is only human and the possibility is there. He was very candid and honest.

It is very hard to rate an excellent Doctor such as Dr. Pop. I have an excellent OB-GYN (Dr. Meilke) and an excellent Family physician (Dr. Jeff Howe). These three are the best on the planet.
I am very fortunate to have found these people. You cannot measure happiness against good health. The happiness comes from having and maintaining good health. I could not do this without these three terrific men!!
I would not trade them for anything in this world! Thanks to all of you!!

Surgical competence and bedside manner are both equal qualities to have by a surgeon and Dr. Pop represents both.
