I felt that Dr. Gorrin was knowledgeable and made me feel calm about the procedure. So far, I would rate him a 10. That may change after surgery, I will update.

My first meeting with Dr. Gorrin went really smooth. He is a very pleasant person and has a sense of humor. He explained the surgical process in terms that were easily understood and gave me ample opportunity to ask any questions. All office staff that I have had to deal with, have been very pleasant and helpfull.

I was impressed by the fact that Dr. Gorrin read my file and in a conversation mentioned a place that I had worked so I knew he had read my file. He was very friendly and comforting and thorough. He has a great sense of humor. The staff their is top notch. They help you prepare for the surgery - mentally, physically and spiritually. Kaiser has very good informative before and after care. I felt well prepared for surgery and well educated about the process. There were no complications and Dr. Gorrins bedside manner was excellent.

The only problem I had was that my IV's were not flushed regularly and both of them popped and that was very uncomfortable. I didn't experience pain until the 3rd day I was there and was totally taken aback by it, because it was unexpected. It was gas in my intestines and was very painful even though I had been walking a whole lot. The nurse let me know that it was ok, that it was normal and offered to get the surgeon for me, but assured me that the pain would start to reside, which it did.

He was great very nice and understanding wish I had him sooner.
He is very professional and knows your background before he even comes in for the first visit.
Very Very nice and discreet.
Nothing
Not to be afraid he is so great and I feel totally comfortable when he is in the room.

Yes and made me understand how serious this is.
He is one my favorite of all time through my 37 years.

I felt comfortable with Dr. Gorrin from the start. He was confident, but not in an arrogant way. He visited me quite often while I was in the hospital, always with a smile on his face. If your surgeon is Dr. Gorrin, you'll be in good hands.

I met with Dr. Gorrin Today (12/02/03). My first impression was, he was young, thorough, and had excellent bedside manner. He was also quick to recognize my "Jerry Bear" tattoo, and it was at that time that i felt most comfortable with him. He can't be all that bad if he's a fellow Deadhead, lol.
His office staff was on the ball and had everything ready and waiting for me to sign.
We talked at great length about my concerns for the surgery, when he spoke he had good eye contact with my husband and myself. He was more then happy to share information he had about mortality rates and certain cases. He answered questions openly and directly. He emphasized a bit on aftercare, but only because Kaiser offers an extensive aftercare program for it's bariatric patients. Aftercare is important and I know this.
My overall rating thus far is excellent!
Surgical competence and bedside manner are both equally important factors.
Dr. Gorrin has been doing gastric bypass for 4 yrs.

I liked Dr. Gorrin from the first moment I met him. He is very friendly and explains everything you ask him. I never had a chance to change my opinon of him as my first meeting and my surgery date were so close together. His staff was great and I will be seeing them again in a couple of weeks. All in all, I am pleased with him. He warned me before surgery that there was a possibility that he would not be able to preforme the bypass. He was a bit concerned that I might have intentional ashesions due to prior hernia surgeries. When he got me open there were a few, but he spent about 30 minutes extra to help relive those so that I could have the bypass. I appreciated that very much.

I would say that if your are assingned Dr. Gorrin you will be in good hands.

Met the surgeon today. Meeting was short but sweet. He said I am a go for the lap procedure. I then met with the Bariatric nurse and she gave me a surgery date 4/10/2003.
