My surgeon was Dr. Mary Reed, she was very sweet and honest. She took the time to explain everything to me. She was honest and answered all of my questions. The morning of my surgery, she came to me, and asked me if there was anything I wanted to know, or anything that I needed. She has a very good bedside manner.

I met Dr. Reed at the WLS support group and she comes highly recommended by all there. I have made up my mind to ask for her to do my surgery. Pre-op appointment on 11/12/02. Dr. Reed was great, well organized and way overworked. She outlined the procedure, as she does it, noting some subtlties about her procedure. She actually wrote down stats, both nationally and at GMC and with her and then outlined all that could go wrong.

I have to make an aside here, because the procedure at GMC is truely a team project. Dr. Still is the co-ordinator, PA Shannon McVeay and RN JoAnne and RD are the leaders and caretakers, Dr. Reed and others do the surgery. The whole process, Pre-op discovery thru after care is outlined and detailed before they even let you think about this having the procedure.

This whole group really cares and does their best to help with any and all problems. I really give them an A+++!

Dr Reed just completed a fellowship in Pittsburgh where she gained familiarity in Minimally Invasive Bariatric Surgery (Lap WLS). She seems competent and secure and made me feel comfortable in her abilities.
