My first impression of Dr. Williams was that he was the right surgeon for me. He didn't tiptoe around any of the questions I had and I was quite direct! The staff at Macon Surgical is awesome. Cheryl was my nurse and she was there for me everytime I called. Julie is great, too. She and Cheryl have been through the WLS so they know how we feel.

I am very impressed with the office staff so far. They have been very helpful. Filled out a ton of paperwork and sent it back to them. Am now waiting on my first visit with the surgeon. Will be meeting Dr. Williams on February 18. Went to an educational lecture by my doctors, Rothwell and Williams on 2-26-03. It was wonderful. They were very patient and treated everyone with such dignity and class. Every question, no matter how inane it seemed, was answered. They took time to make sure everyone was well informed. **UPDATE** 3-7-03 - Dr. Williams office is wonderful. Linda, the nurse in charge of the WLS program, is very knowledgeable and encouraging. They are very quick to return calls and are very patient. Also, Glenda, the insurance guru, is wonderful and professionally persistent in working with the insurance companies to get what is needed. They are my heros! ** 3-12-03 Dr. Williams did my upper GI endoscopy and it was a breeze. Very gentle and the entire process was very UNstressful.
****5-23-03 - Saw the nurse yesterday and I truly love the office staff of Dr. Williams. They took over an hour and a half on preop info, signing consents, postop aftercare, you name it they covered it. My surgery is scheduled for June 2nd and they have been very attentive and on top of everything. From Holly who answers the phone to Glenda who handles insurance to Cheryl and Julie office nurses - they are all great! ****June 5th, 2003 - I hope and pray that everyone's surgeon has a phenomenal nurse like mine does. Cheryl - you are truly a GOD send. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

I was too nervouse to remember what my first impression of Dr Williams was. I do remember he was nice and answered all of my questions. Since my first initial appointment I have only seen him for my EGD. He was extremly nice then too, however, I only talked to him a few moments. (the medicine kicked in) I have been dealing with his office assistants quite a bit though. They have always been extremly helpful and considerate.
I have not had the surgery yet. Will let you know how it goes.
The only problem I have had is, it's a month away from my sugery and Im still being notified of new appointments I have to go to.

I met Dr. Williams on Tues. Nov. 20, 2002. His staff is wonderfully nice and helpful. They are doing everything they can to make this as painless as possible given my distance to them. The only I have trouble with is the slew of tests and other doctors I have to go to first, but I understand the caution.
He seemed a little unconcerned about my situation of being a single parent with three small children and insisting on me traveling to Macon for his lecture. That was a little upsetting because it is on a weeknight and I work full time. I was a little put off by his lack of concern. And not giving any at all on allowing me to attend a meeting educating about the same surgery that is only 15 miles from me. But the staff is great.

I can not say enought about Dr Williams, he has impressed me from the first time I met him, as well as Dr. Rothwell and Dr. Farmer. The entire staff is fabulous and I think that they deserve saint hood for what they are doing for the obese community. They provide the total package at their office. Exercise and nutrition after surgery as well as all the support before. They really focus on aftercare and Dr. Rothwell himself as been through this surgery, so he really knows how patients feel. I am thankful I have found them.
I would also like to comment on the staff, Deborah, Kelly, Linda, Glenda and everyone has been so nice and kept me informed of every move. I can not say enough about these wonderful angels.

Dr. Williams seems very nice. The only problem is, he's good-looking and for some reason that always makes me feel even more self conscious than I already do. He does make you get an ultrsound and an endoscopy. Most of the staff are very nice. Some of them act like they have big chips on their shoulders. But they do return calls quickly.

I really liked him,he was up front. And did a lot of test.He wants to make sure that everything is fine to do surgery.
It really has not changed. He cares about his patients.
Is office staff is very professional. They were very helpful, they tell you every thing about what they are doing to get the insurance company to pay.
There is nothing. I really like my Doctor.
I tell every one that he is very good. He does a lot of test, stress test, sleep study EGD, I can't remeber them all,but before he does surgery on you,he wants to make sure everything is cleared so you want run into any problems during or after the surgery.
His aftercare program, you go once a week for the first month, then once a month for a year.
He told you about all the risk, but if you have done your homework, you know alot about it and you ask him questions. He gives you a written test to see if you have been paying attention to what all is about to happen to you.
I would rate him TOPS.
I think both or important.surgical competence, and bedside manner.

My first meeting was very good. Being a nurse I knew time was short and I had researched and read alot prior to my first visit. He did not hurry me and answered all my questions even those I'm sure that were stupid to him. Everytime I see him he gives me his full and undivided attention. The entire office staff is a part of this and all are extrememly comfortable with obese patients. The main surgeon in the group Dr. Michael Rothwell had the surgery done on himself by Carnie Wilson's doctor in California. Afterwards he returned and studied under him. Now all the surgeons in this group "Macon Surgical Associates" are trained and part of the support group. They attend the monthly meetings and have a very strict aftercare program. When they started this team group they included a psychologist and nutritionist. After much research I feel totally comfortable in their participation and approach. They will not do surgery on every patient, only on those that fully meet their criteria. Personally being a nurse, I could care less if he ever spoke to me or not, as long as his surgical expertise is perfect. We have addressed the issue of risks but I am going into this surgery with a positive mind and do everything they require of me, so I expect few problems.
