Dr. Asbun is a WONDERFUL doctor! I can not say enough good things about him. My surgery went absolutely perfect and he is just a very caring doctor!

I was very impressed with Dr. Asbun. I've never had such a good feeling the first time meeting a doctor as I had with Dr. Asbun. I had heard many good things about him and let me tell you they are ALL true! He's confident but not cocky. He sincere but not sappy. You feel he truly cares about you and about your understanding of this surgery. He makes sure you realize every possible complication and how your life will be very different after surgery.rnrnI cannot say one negative thing about him. I would recommend him hands down and I haven't even had my surgery yet!rnrnThe office staff (Anne, Shirley & Karole) were very supportive and so nice. Great group of people!

Dr Asbun and his team are the greatest. I am a year post op and he still has major concerns for me. I have never known a more caring Dr.rnEven after 4 yrs post op Dr Asbun still has concernsrnfor my health. Because I deal with a variety of rnproblems I know I can always count on him andrnhis staff to always be there for me.

Dr. Asbun is a wonderful doctor who has the expertise to be a phenomenal surgeon yet the bedside manner of an old time physician. I would highly recommend him as a surgeon to anyone who is contemplating undergoing gastric by-pass surgery.

I am a nurse at JMMC. I heard about bariatric surgery but I didn't feel it was refined enough to have it done myself. Well, after hearing the stories about Dr. Asbun from the "inside" of the hospital staff I thought I'd look into this surgery. He won me over right away. I had never met him before being his patient. He was kind, very knowledgable and most of all he took his time and answered every little question I had. Met him for a second time with my pre op visit and I was once again very impressed. Now being a nurse, I'm not very impressed with many docs. BUT a few stand out and Dr Asbun is at the top of the list. As a nurse we hear the good AND the bad of what really goes on in the hospitals. I have never heard one comment that was negative towards Dr Asbun. I've always said half the docs graduated in the top half of their class and the other in the lower half. Dr A is at the very tippy top. My biggest fear was having to be "opened" for the surgery. I had full confidence that Dr A would be able to do it laproscopically. If he couldn't no one could. After surgery I was equally if not more impressed. I asked him if he actually did anything inside. There weren't any stitches!!! Just six little holes that were closed shut. Not one bit of pain. Not even a tylenol after the initial first day of surgery. My surgical course contined to be as smooth. Once I found the fine line not to cross by over eating I was just fine. No side effects. Both Dr A's technical competence and his bedside manner are superior. On a scale of 1 - 10 I rate him about an 18. The care I received from Anne and the Bariatric Program at Mt. Diablo was also superior. The before and after care is superb. They are always available by phone or by email and respond very quickly. This really is a fantastic program. Very very thorough. I can say this because I'm almost 2 years out of surgery. If you're thinking about having this surgery just do it. It has changed my life intensely. My son has commented that he now has a fun mom. That in itself says it all. Just as everyone else I know says, "I'd do it again in a heart beat and I wish I had done it sooner." Thank you

I loved Dr Asbun. He was very caring and always concerned. He gave you has much time has you needed. He did not rush you. He spoke with my son about the surgery. I also loved his office staff. They are so caring and know so much about the surgery.

I have indeed been remiss in not posting to Dr.Asbun's testamonials! I was his 1st Gastric Bypass patient and had my surgery Sept. 9, 2002. I can hardly believe that it is almost 3 years later and 170 lbs ago. It was the best thing that I ever did for myself and I only came to the final decision after meeting with Dr.Asbun. He is truly the most remarkable and gifted surgeon. After the first meeting with him, I had no doubts about being his first wls patient. He was honest and open. He listened to my thoughts and concerns. He always, (and his staff), treated me with the utmost care and respect. It was a "team" effort between us...I had my job to do after he did the initial surgery. It wasn't always easy but it worked! The surgery was uneventful and the hospital took excellent care of me. I NEVER felt embarassed. (NEVER)! The wls was such a life altering event in my life and one that I wouldn't have wanted to share with any other doctor. Dr. Asbun will always have my gratitude, respect and love for his participation in changing my life! He is a terrific doctor and you will never regret trusting him with your life. I did and I would do it again...in a heartbeat! He is the best!

Dr. Asbun, from the beginning was very caring and considerate. He is a maticulous and very thoughtful, concerned'doctor
and wants to avoid any and all discomfort for his patients. His staff answers any and all questions,there is always a line of communication between staff and patient.My impression of him was total confidence in his decisions and his skills as a dr., I had no problem putting my life in his hands, and where decisions had to be made i trusted his judgement completely.My surgury was difficult and he came through for me.He addressed all risks of the surgury and went over them with me. His aftercare is in process for me now, I have an appointment in two weeks, he stressed that i walk but be carefull not not do any lifting, bending.Overall I would reccomednd dr. asbun to anyone. Remember all his instructions must be completed before the surgury or your surgury will be delayed. good luck to everyone!

Dr Asbun was so friendly, he is very supportive, and treats you like a human being. After meeting with him, he said call me or my staff any time for anything, there are no silly questions. He treats me like family very conserned about my well being and state of mind.
The staff is wonderful, Anne Timberlake and Shirley always make you fill welcome, and Shirley has had WLS and can give you fabulous advice and support. They both have emails and run the before and after support groups.
I found no faults with Dr. Asbun or his staff they all go out of their way to assist your needs.
Future patients should know that when they choose Dr. Asbun they have him for the long haul, you truly have never met any doctor as skilled or down to earth.
There are before and after support groups once a month, they are a great help not only to see the success, but can also get before surgery questions. The entire staff is their to assist you.
Dr Asbun is very careful to go over each and every line of the pros and cons of the surgery. He spends a good 2 hours on his 1st exam and makes sure you are ready. He will make a list of goals and other tests and specialist you may need to see prior to getting approval.
Dr. Asbun and his staff are 10+++. He is very gentle, sweet and makes you feel as if you are his only patient.
