Hi George  Good to see you in the PA message board! Did your surgeon actually examine you to rule out a hernia? I ask because gas pains alone can cause incredible pain. For my first year postop, I had the opposite problem. I had a LOT of gas build up but experienced major constipation. Once I reached goal and I started adding in higher carb foods, the constipation went away though the gas got worse. Fortunately there's not much odor thank goodness... I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry about the possibility of a hernia until you know for sure you have one. Even then, know that MANY people have or develop hernias following WLS and have surgery (or not) and do fine. I totally understand though about the fear that goes through one's mind... Even at almost 3 years postop, I still feel as though things have gone too well for me since my WLS. I keep expecting a shoe to drop... This Friday, I go in for surgery to have 2 of 3 VERY palpable and enlarged lymph nodes biopsied. It's not a big surgery (about 1 hour) and I'll go home the same day, but even so, I am pretty scared. I was this way with each of my reconstructive surgeries as well - just waiting for that shoe I suppose... I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and let us all know what your dr says! As for your weight loss, TERRIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go! Any word on a date for your support group's meeting? I'm still open to presenting! Beginning Feb 9th, I'll be taking part in a karaoke competition on Thursday nights, and I could come out your way either any Thursday before then (except this Thursday) or any other night (or day). Feel free to send me an email :) Sending lots of hugs and smiles yours and Barb's way! Caroline, Lap RNY 5/2/03, -225 lbs @ goal, http://abutterflyemerges.com

George, just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you this morning as you become a loser. Hope Barb is on the road to mending and you're now an official "loser"! Congrats. Jennifer (RNY LAP 12/17/04)
