Guess I haven't done this in awhile!

Since April...now I'm down #62. Which I don't think is near enough! Dr.LaMasters daid at my 6 month appointment last week, that Im doing fine. It is a little slow, but its still going down. I'm down from a very tight 28, to now a baggy 22...lol. I keep going down in sizes, it seems to happen almost overnight too. Which I am happy about. I look better and I feel alot better. My knees don't hurt, my back doesn't hurt...and I'm able to do way more than I did!
My main food issue is that I don't eat often enough, or enough! I've been going to the gym twicce a week, but next week starts the 3 day workouts,. Then the other days I ride my recumbant bike. I need to speed up the weight loss. I want to look hot in my wedding gown next year.

I about missed this month, I didn't realize I hadn't updated in so long.
This month I joined Aspen Athletic club, again...lol. I went for a couple of years about 6 years ago, but hadn't been back. So, now I'm going again and riding the recumbent bike in the diningroom too. I have a personal trainer, Weston. He's good, he hasn't hurt me yet. And we weighed me today, which is 2 weeks since I started with him and I'd lost 10 pounds!
!0 pounds in 2 weeks, I was pleased with myself. I know my clothes got bigger like overnight. Now I'm 3 months out, my hair has started falling out, and I was just a TOTAL bitch...I could hardly stand myself. The surgeon told me that starts too and I'm right on schedule! I got some different antidepressants, I think they're helping.
Eating is going better. I can eat salad now, I really missed that, And meat is going better too. Somebody asked me if I was glad I had surgery, and I am. I feel so much better, I like looking better...and eating isn't nearly as important. I'm cheap date now!

Its March!

Tuesday I will be 6 weeks out. Have an appointment with Dr.LaMasters in the morning, and then with the exercise person. This time I have stuff to talk and ask about. Eating is not very easy! Twice I've tried meat---one pork chop-one piece of chicken...and they both came up. Now meatloaf, and deli meats are fine. I don't know if I'm eating too much, but I don't think thats it...so maybe i'm eating too quick. I don't know, but i get tired of hurting al the time. Just the last few days I've noticed that I can take larger drinks of water, I like that part. I'm down 34 pounds, but I've been at 30 for almost a month! I know it happens, but I don't like it
Other than that I feel really good. I think not eating sugar is helping with my fibromyalgia...so its all good. This week I'm going back to work a little, that will be nice too. Give me something to do besides watch tv!

Or just beginning, depends on how you look at it.
My surgery was scheduled for 8:10 last Wedneday, Jan 21st. I had to be there at 6:00! But I made it cause I don't think I slept too much. It went great! They got me all checked in and over started an IV, my sisters got there in time to meet Dr.LaMasters. They roled me into the operating room i got on the table and that was about it! I woke up in recovery, then went to a room. Dr.LaMasters told me beforehand that I might have to go to ICU because of the betablocker i take but that she hated to do that. They don't have many gastric patients and don't always do things like she wants. So I was so happy I didn't have to go, my heart did just fine. My breathing was good, but I guess my liver is HUGE. She didn't think anything was causing it but fatty liver disease, but that mine is really big.
I came home on Friday afternoon. So far everything is going great, no complaints. Today I quit taking the pain killer they had me on, I was just too stupid and sleepy....lol

I can't belive its coming this quick. And I thought I had updated before this too, but...
So, I've started the 2 week 1200 calorie diet, so far so good. But I do get a little hungry, not bad though.
I'm not nervous, anxious, anything about surgery. Maybe its cause I've had surgery before, I don't know....but I'm not. Maybe it will hit me, maybe not. I read on here the other day that somebody else wasn't nervous, so at least I know I'm not the only one.
The hardest part of this whole thing has been not buying any clothes! Last night I did buy some new pajamas, then while I was looking at the 70% off rack, I found this cute white summer dress. I had to have it, it is a 1X and it was only $12. I figure at least I'll have something cute to wear this summer. I had cute 1X stuff, but got rid of it all cause I didn't think I'd ever wear it again! Oh well, I like to shop.
I'll update again right before surgery. See if I'm nervous yet or not.

I got my approval letter!
Dec 06, 2008
I got the approval from my insurance today. I had a letter from the surgeon's office earlier this week telling me they had sent my stuff on Tuesday, Dec. 2nd. I thought okay, it will take them a couple of weeks to get a letter to me. But it didn't! I am just totally shocked, excited, nervous, all of those emotions.
I hope the clinic got their letter today too. Then they'll call me, and set up my next appointment. That's when I schedule my surgery. Its such a busy time of year...I bet they won't have time til after the first of the year. Which is okay, the cardiologist wants me on a beta blocker for a month before surgery, and 2-3 afterwards. My blood pressure is always low, but my heart rate is kinda high.
So, so far....so good

It's still November but...

I got mail from my surgeon's office earlier this month. The insurance person there said that she hadn't received anything from my primary care doctor since June. Then she enclosed stuff from Medicaid that told their requirements for bariatric surgery. She'd highlighted the diet portion of it. Well, I'm reading that stuff, one part of the Medicaid requirements said, "confirmation that the patient is over 25, but not yet 55"
Well, I start freaking out...I'm 55! This is the first I've heard of this. I try to get her on the phone, but that takes 2 days. I ask what that age limit is, she says "oh, Nancy...don't even worry about that, we always get that overruled" Ok, now I can quit worrying about that! Then she says, "the last month that we got any diet records was June of this year"
June is when I first went to the doctor and we talked about me having surgery, and they made my appointment to the seminar. So, when I have my appointment next week, my 6 months are done!!!
I'm so excited...it will still be after the first of the year, and that's okay. At least I see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Why is it when you're anxious for something, the time goes by slowly? Like when you're a kid waiting for Christmas!
I've finished all of my appointments except my physician superrvised diet. I do have to go and find out what my sleep study was about, but that's it. When I was at my pcp visit last week he said "How much longer do we have to do this?" I told him my first appt. was in July but I didn't know how they counted the months. He told me that July would be visit #1, if you count that way my 6 months is up in December! Then I could be having surgery shortly after the first of the year..
At the support group meeting last Saturday, they were talking about how busy it will be from now til then. Cause everybody has now met their deductible.
So, now I just wait! I've bought some protein samples, I need to try them to see if any might work. I'm leary of buying too much now since everyone says your tastes change after surgery. Next month the support group is doing a potluck. The nut said she's have samples made to try then, so that's a good idea too.
I need to take a picture of me sometime, I hate being a noface...lol

It's October

I finished all of my pre-op requirements. The stress test wasn't much fun, but I guess it turned out okay.He just wants me to take a beta blocker about a month before surgery and then for 3 months afterwards. My psychologist clearance went well, He said I was competent to make the decision to have surgery...he didn't dig far enough to find out that I'm also nuts...lol
But next week my pulmonologust is making me do a sleep study. She's just sure I have sleep apnea. Even if I do, I don't know how I'd ever sleep with one of those masks on...I guess people do but...
Thats about all thats going on this month. We have a halloween party on the 25th. This couple really decks out their house and yard...Its kinda fun, the first year we went, I was Elvira...and everybody thought I made a good one. Last year my so went as the pope, I was the "pro". This year I'm doing a gypsy thing and I think he's going to be Johnny depp from the Pirate movies. This is if I get all the costumes made in time.
I told Chad that next year when we go...I'm getting some sexy/slutty costume. I'll walk in and everybody will think he's got a new one
If surgery is in January/February, I could be done a bunch!
Maybe I'll get some pictures done...would be nice to have a face!
More next month....

Somewhere I missed August! But not too much happened. Finished my first month of my doctor supervised diet. I've got to get over the "I'd better eat this cause I might not get to ever again!" I know its not true, that I probably can eat things, just not as much as I eat now. So, I've started doing the South Beach diet again. I kinda worked for me before, but the first 2 weeks are not fun!
Had my first cardiologist appointment on Wednesday, 9-3. My blood pressure is normal, my EKG is normal. He was a nice guy, we talked about WLS. He said he has patients that have had it and it makes so much difference, he's amazed! I go the 23rd to have my stress test. The one where they give you stuff to get your heart rate high. He said I'll just have to do a little slow walk on the treadmill. At least I've got treadmill experience, 18 years ago when I had a stress test...it was just like a cartoon, I fell off the back!
Saturday I'm going to my first support group meeting. See what that's all about. 2 people that I've talked to from here have said they enjoy going.
We'll see!
