Hi Yvonne. You stick to your guns and have this surgery!! Do not let your mom's attitude get in your way, she is just scared, is all. She will come around, don't you worry! She may not be there the day of surgery, but she will be there later, I just know it! Congrats on the earlier surgery date! I know you are so anxious to get this done so you will be on the losing side! Yvonne, just remember to keep focused on your goal, stay POSITIVE in thinking, take one day at a time, one foot ahead of the other, and you will do great!! My best to you, kiddo. ((((HUGS))))

Yvonne: I cannot say we have the same situation but they sound very similar... Both sides of my family (my husbands and mine) are very neg. What he told me is they shouldn't be the factor in how we do our life.It is hard for me to just live by that I have always done things the way others wanted me to and that has never made me happy so I now need to live for me and my imediate family...(my husband , myself, and our 2 girls. Our surgeries are 1 day appart, You will be in my thoughts and prayers and see you on the LOSSING side... God Bless Nicole_CA

Good luck on your upcoming surgery! I'm sure what seems to be a lack of support is just your mother's way of dealing with her concerns for you. Ask her to agree to disagree about this because it is going to happen. Let her know no matter what she thinks about the surgery you are her daughter and no matter how old you get there will be times that you will need the support that only a parent can give. Either way you have been blessed to have the support of your sister. I wish you the best!

Hey Yvonne I am from Chicago too, CONGRATS on your date, my mom was the same way she was sooo against me when I decided to have this done now 7 months later she is in the process of having it done for herself, and shes so mad she waited. My prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. RNY 9/02 was 213 now 138.
