The Beginning!
On 12/12/02 - I met with my PCP regarding WLS and he didn't hesitate one moment and felt I would be a perfect candidate. The wheels are in motion! I've had my first blood work and the referral has been sent to the nutritionist, whom I expect to hear from next week (after the holidays - she is on vacation). I have been overweight pretty much all my life. I was probably the most lithe on my HS graduation in 1981 at 140 lbs. I'm big-boned so this is my goal to get back too. Actually, 150. I'm 5'4" and currently 350. While waiting I'm going to attend a Pacific Bariatric seminar. I'm very excited and can't wait! I have read and heard only good things about them. Even if I don't end up having the procedure there, I figure it can't hurt to expand my knowledge, right? Will check back in soon!

1/14/03 - Well, here's the latest. I attended the Pacific Bariatric seminar on 1/9 and it was very informative and educational. I definitely want to have my procedure done there! Yesterday was a double whammy day - good whammies. I received my registration form from the nutritionist but was a little surprised that I would have to pay $150 for 12-weeks! OH well. It is a required component of the process for Bariatric Surgery for us in Kaiserland. I also begin attending the local support group last night (1/13) and that was also very good. I suspect the next couple of months will crawl seem like an eternity. If I'm going to learn the true meaning of patience, this is going to be the test!

2/14/03 - Started the 12-week Kaiser Bariatric Nutrition classes at Kaiser-Fontana and I'm proud to say I am one of the "guinea pigs" of the class! This is the first class of it's kind and it is geared toward getting the process more streamlined and to prepare folks for their surgery. According to our instructor, we should all be approved by the end of April and have surgery dates by May/June. Wow! We'll see! That would sure be nice. The class prepares everyone with nutritional, diet and exercise information. They will also have us test products (protein drinks, etc). More later!

3/19/03 - The bariatric class is rolling along and we've just completed our 7th week. Beginning next week and for the next 4, the psychologist will be teaching while the other instructor works on our packets, gathering our information to have ready to go to the approval board as soon as we complete the class. Letters were sent to our PCP's for our referrals and many of us in the class received calls and have already completed some of the requirements. So far, nothing is lagging and that seems to be good news for us! Stay tuned!

4/16/03 - Well, here I am with one week left to go in the class. We "graduate" on the 21st. Of course we're trying to figure out a "healthy" way to celebrate sans cake, cookies and other assorted bad things...lol! The class has been great and I remember in the beginning being somewhat ticked that I had to go through this "hoop". I'm glad I did, though. I'm especially glad I went through it when I did, too - they have already started a second round of classes and there is a waiting list for future classes already! Well, for those of you who happen to read this and are pissy about having to wait, I can tell you one thing - it will be WORTH IT. In the meantime, I finished all the pre-required stuff: EKG, Psych, Blood work, 24-Hour Urine (oh, yeah - that was fun, let me tell ya!). So, all that is left of this part is finishing the class next week and waiting to hear from the approval gods. I imagine that will be my next post.

4/22/03 (Quickie!): We graduated last night and celebrated with Raspberry Ice flavored Crystal Light (not bad!). We all received our little certificates of completion and took pictures while our instructors filled us in on what is to come in the next couple weeks (see above post). Yee Haw! More than half way there!

5/27/03 - Still waiting to hear from the approval gods, AAAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!! (sigh)

6/3/03 - Well, hot damn! I got my approval letter today!! WOO HOO!!! I called Pacific Bariatric and I'm just waiting for a return call (anxiously, I might add). I'm so jazzed, I don't know whether to just sit here quietly and take it all in or start bouncing off the walls! Hmmm...I know! I'll do a little of both! WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

6/20/03 - I had my gall bladder ultrasound scheduled on 6/16 but had to go back on 6/19 cuz they couldn't find it the first time. You're not supposed to eat for 8 hours prior and I've been fighting a nasty cold. The medication I was taking makes you sick if you don't eat and well, it made me sick. I was originally scheduled for 10AM but they called me at the crack of dawn that day (6:30AM - auurgh!) and wanted to reschedule me cuz they were short handed. I told them, hell no - call someone else and screw up THEIR day! LOL Well, they ended up putting me a 3PM slot that day. I ended up eating something light that morning figuring that by 3pm it should be well through my system. NO - figures! So, back I went on 6/19, first thing in the morning and the MIA gall bladder was located.

PB called today and went over my paperwork with me over the phone. They asked if I had a preference for surgeons and since Rumsey was the guy at the orientation I went to, I picked him. I haven't seen a single complaint and everyone seems very happy with him so I think it's a good choice! They're going to call me back with a date for the three consultation appointments for around the second week in July. YAY!!!!!!

6/27/03 - Happy B-day to me! (Well, it was actually on the 25th - the BIG FOUR-OH now!) And to top it off I got a call that my consultation date at PB is on July 9th. San Diego, here I come! (Mental note: pack sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, swivel beach chair...)

7/10/03 - Met with Dr. Rumsey, internist (Dr. Kingsbury) and psychologist (Dr...shoot, can't remember his name) all in one day on the 9th. All went very well and it was a gorgeous day in San Diego! Dr. Rumsey is requiring a 25 lb weight loss prior to surgery and put me on a strict regimen with Pro-Complex and other proteins. I'll find out in a couple weeks what my surgery date will be. They're currently scheduling about 2 1/2 months from the consultation date. Looks like it's going to be around Octoberfest! Woo Hoo! The internist (Dr. Kingsbury) was very funny. He went over everything thoroughly and that included having another EKG at their office prior to meeting with him. The psychologist was also very nice. It wasn't near Scripp's though. The office was on a quiet little street of bungalow houses and I thought I was in the wrong place at first. Their sign was covered because they were in the process of painting. As I was parking, suddenly I heard this massive noise and looked up - a jet was passing over heading into the San Diego airport. This little neighborhood is up on a hill just east of the airport runway and let me tell ya - they come in so low you can see the dirt and grease in the wheel wells and the tread on the tires! I think we talked more about low-flying aircraft then we did about me - LOL!

7/23/03 - It has been 2 weeks since the consultation and I haven't heard anything about a date yet. Some of the other folks in my class haven't heard yet either, so I'll wait a couple more days then maybe call to find out the status.

10/3/03 - Well, a lot has happened since July. I did finally receive a call from PB and expected to get a date. Instead I was told I wouldn't get a date until I had lost the 25 lbs. Almost everyone else in my class had heard back and had been scheduled for their surgeries. But everyone else also picked a different doctor and that didn't have a set criteria for weight loss prior to surgery. August and September were very stressful and frustrating. I lost 14 lbs right off the bat have been stuck there. Then I ran out of ProComplex (just restocked up again!). On top of that I work two jobs so trying to concentrate on everything at once while being stressed out waiting for a date was getting to be too much. I was beginning to think I would never have this surgery. Then, out of the blue I got a call from PB the last week of Sept and was told that Dr. Rumsey had signed off on my chart and that I was going to be hearing back with a date within the next week. It didn't even take that long! A few days later the surgery coordinator called and gave me my date - December 9th!!! I still have to lose the rest of the 11 lbs and I'm working hard to do it. At least now I have a date and something to really look forward to and make me even work harder! YAY!!!

11/24 - Well, just 14 more days to go (13 if you count the pre-op day)! I can't wait!

12/8 - Woo Hoo! I'm off to San Diego today! All of my pre-op appointments are from 1:30 - 5:30 and I'm scheduled for surgery on Tues at 9am. I have to be there around 5:30 am on Tues (auurgh!). I'm happy to report that in my next posting, I'll be a total loser.

12/13 - I'm proud to officially announce that I am a total LOSER!! LOL...

Pre-op was on the afternoon of the 8th. There were 9 of us in the room but only 8 had our surgeries the next day. One was cancelled because she was having LAP and the doc doing it had to cancel due to a family emergency. We all felt bad for her cuz her family and everything had come down south with her. They could have done the surgery if she had opted for open but she didn't. I think they rescheduled her for the 20th. Anyway, we got through the 4 hours or so of instruction and went to our hotels until the morning. The following day (9th) I had to be there at 6:30 and spent most of the first hour sitting in a cold room with my neato fashionable gown on.

I finally got into the pre-op area around 9am. The warm blankies they put over you while you wait were very nice. After a little while of waiting, off I went. Of course I only remember getting into the surgery room and on the table and then the anesthesiologist tapping on the mask and telling me to take deep breaths. I was so busy looking around the room that I guess I wasn't sucking in the sleep potion like I should have! LOL Before I knew it I woke up in the recovery room. Having had a hysterectomy a couple years ago and experiencing major pain right after surgery I was sort of expecting the same but surprisingly, it wasn't as bad - in fact only about half bad. On a scale of 1-10 I'd say it was about an 8. Which means the hysterectomy must have been a friggin 20 on the pain scale!! Yeah, I know. Probably TMI, but hey. I'm not exactly shy about stuff.

I must have slept most of the recovery because I don't remember much until I got up to my room. I was feeling pretty dang good by then with the drugs they were giving me. I was a happy camper! I got into my room about 2pm and a couple hours later got a roommate. I had my first walk about 6pm that night and did 2 laps around the floor. They got us both up (roomie and I) around 1:30 am and we both did laps but this time I did 4 or 5 laps. I just needed to walk. Of course, I paid for it the next day. The only miserable thing was not being able to quench our thirst. They gave us these little swabs that are for wetting the inside of your mouth. They helped a little but I was really looking forward to those ice chips! The next day we finally got our ice chips and you would've thought it was the nectar of the gods! LOL I was pretty sore from overdoing it the day before so I only did one lap around the floor and at 11am they had an exercise class for all of us. I did the class but the bed was calling me. I ended up sleeping most of the day and felt much better on Thurs and got to take a shower which was pretty orgasmic! LOL My roomie and I were both doing really well with not to much pain and the nurses dubbed us the "party room". By Friday I was going stir crazy and finally got released to the hotel in town (San Diego). That's where I am now. It's Sat and I'm getting ready to head back to the room to finish my protein drink. All liquids have stayed down really well and I feel very satisfied. I've had water, juice, chicken broth and juice mixed with pro-complex. So far, so good! My post-op appointment is on Monday at 2pm and then I'm off for home - YAY!

12/21 - Well, I've been home for a week (tomorrow) and everything is going superb. I haven't had any problem with anything I've tried in my week 2 phase and I look forward to next week when I can try some chicken and fish. Like most, water intake is my biggest hurdle. I used to be able to suck down about 3 quarts a day and now it is tough to get one in! At my one week check up, Dr. Rumsey said I could start going back to the gym by Friday (the 19th) but I haven't been yet. I want to get into the pool and the weather has been a little chilly, however I've been walking and doing light chores around the house with no problems. I'll start the gym tomorrow for sure. One thing I've noticed is my sleep pattern. For the past year I have been a very light sleeper and felt deprived constantly. I think it was just the stress of preparing for this and other things. Since the surgery I have slept better than I have the entire past year - very soundly all night. I'm not big on sleeping in (my animals will not allow that!) but at least now I can get a good nights rest! The other weird thing is that I had really bad pain in the back of my ankles. The tendon in the back (on both sides) felt like guitar strings and it was very painful. I've had this for almost two years. (I don't think it was plan tar's heel but maybe it was) Since the surgery I've had no pain there either. I expected it to come back after all of the morphine and pain killer was out of my system but it hasn't and I couldn't be happier! Funny how that all works!

1/13/04 - Happy New Year! Well it has been just a little over a month. I had my 1 month check-up at the PB Seminar in Riverside last week (1/8) and all is well. I'm down 49 lbs and just shy 2 lbs shy of breaking that dreaded 300 lb mark (DOH)! I think I'll just go to San Diego from now when it comes to check-ups. 1) It is an excuse to go to San Diego. 2) When they book folks for the check-ups at the seminars they book a bunch of people at a time and you end up sitting around for a long time. I waited for an hour and a half and was one of the last ones called before they were getting ready to start the seminar. 3) It's an excuse to go to San Diego...lol. Anyway, things have been going good. I've had a couple of issues with chicken for some reason. Some days it is perfect and other days it doesn't like me. It can be prepared the exact same way but it's iffy. I have been experimenting a little more and have had good luck with ground turkey patties, small baked taters, broccoli/carrots and other veggies. Refried beans are heavenly. I was on the road one day and picked up a cheese and bean tostada along the way. I ate the bean, cheese and lettuce part and that worked out perfectly. Trader Joe's is the place for good stuff: chili, soups, ground turkey and these great little black bean and cheese enchiladas that are perfect and stay down really good. I also buy the Atkins protein shakes cuz I'm on the go so often and sometimes don't have time to blend up a shake. The Atkins protein bars are also very good. They're sweetened with Splenda (not the evil "tols" we can't have!) and those are great for breakfast or for taking along on a road trip. I tried some orange roughy one night but that didn't work out so good. I think only cuz I put it on the George Foreman and maybe overcooked it a tad so it was on the dry side. For those that are craving garlic bread - I found a great solution! Trader Joe's has these super cheese and garlic toasted croutons. They're pretty big for croutons (about the size of a fifty-cent piece) but they're perfect for supplying the mouth with the craving of garlic toast. One of those with a piece of chicken or turkey is the perfect meal. Also for you chocolate freaks out there I found the MOTHERLODE! Eskimo now makes frozen fudge bars sweetened with Splenda! They're the bomb! I have found them at Stater's and I'm sure other stores have them now as well. Also, if you check www.splenda.com they have all kinds of recipes listed that are compatible for bariatric folks! I'm heading to Reno in a couple weeks and I will pack my little ice chest of shakes and bars for the road trip. But I have been a little apprehensive at the same time. It will be interesting to experiment with the restaurants and buffet to see what they have to offer that will be compatible. Well, that's it for now. I'll check back in a couple weeks!

1/17/04 - Still stuck at 302. I think for a couple reasons. 1) I have a bad cold that has been sticking with me for about a week so I haven't felt much like doing anything (walking, going to gym to swim) and I've been on cold meds. I am getting my protein in though. Also, this could be an early plateau for me since I had lost the 25 before surgery and then the 23 after. We all hit those and maybe this is my first. I'm sure my bod will catch up with me soon! Ideally we want to keep melting on a regular basis but then reality steps in. No biggie - I'll get cranking again soon!

2/3/04 - WOO HOO!!! I finally broke the 300 mark! I rule! Was down to 292 this morning. Another 10 lbs gone! I thought January would be a challenge. I went with some friends to Reno (took a mini vacation) and wondered what would be in store for me. I took some Adkins protein bars and canned shakes just in case. My friend is petite and doesn't eat much so we ended up being cheap dates when it came to eating. She would tell me order whatever I wanted and we'd split it. The restaurants at the Eldorado give you SO MUCH food so that worked out great! We split chicken caesar salad one night, crab legs the next...it was pretty heavenly! Throughout the weekend everyone was drinking and I wasn't going to, but I decided to go for it. I ordered a glass of vino and sipped it very slowly over a period of about 3 hours, along with lots of water. This worked out well. The next night I got a little more bolder and tried a margarita, but did the same thing - drank lots of water with it. It worked for ME but that doesn't mean it will work for YOU. I'm only a social drinker and don't go out a lot so this was a huge treat. In fact I probably won't try it again for a few months. Anyway, the trip was great. I've been having problems with chicken though - it is not liking me for some reason. Go figure. Fish is good, ground beef and ground turkey is good. I have found one thing though - they told us that when you eat to just sit and concentrate on that meal and not have distractions. I've tried that and each time I still end up eating too fast. I can chew and chew and try to take my time but it just doesn't work for me. I end up feeling miserable or just can't finish. Now, if I take my meal and go sit in front of the computer, take a bite, chew, check email, answer it, take a bite, chew, read another email...etc, I'm fine. I find myself taking sometimes up to an hour to eat and it just works out better that way. Go figure! Well, off for more fun and adventures. Until next time, toodles!

2/25/04 - Down to 285! It is coming off steadily and a little slow but that's ok. As long as it keeps coming off! I need to exercise more! I want to go to the gym and swim but it has been so cold and rainy. All this rain just SUCKS! I'm going to buy a bike and start peddling to work. I only work about 1.5 miles away so that will be nice in the spring and summer. And especially with this ridiculous gas price gouging - sheesh!

3/18/04 - Down to 275! I was in a rut for about a month and finally started losing again. Plateau city, me thinks. But it's normal and to be expected! I'm SO happy that it is nice and warm again (80+ here in SoCal!) and I've been hitting the gym to swim and do the aquarobics classes. I'm going to start the machines now, too. I had so many clothes that were draping off of me I ended up selling a lot of them on Ebay. I just got a couple of outfits but they probably won't last long! I also went out today and did something I haven't done for nearly 4 years! I BOUGHT HIGH HEELS!!! Oh goodness! I felt so TALL in them! Luvin' it! I have lived in tennies for the last several years and just bought a nice outfit that demanded nice shoes. I went to Payless and found exactly what I needed to go with it so that was exciting (new and cheap to boot!) I also found a couple of pairs of pants 2 sizes smaller than what I used to wear and they were on the bargain rack at Kmart. The little things in life are so enjoyable when you're getting skinny. HA!! I just took pictures today so hopefully I'll have them posted this week.
Ta Ta for now!

4-21-04: Howdy, howdy! Well, down another few lbs! 267! I've hit another plateau as I expected I would. No biggie. Here's the weird part. Though you hit the plateau and you don't see the scale moving, the body is catching up and the inches continue to come off. At least with me they do. I've been picking up smaller clothes here and there when I can find them on the bargain racks. No point in buying expensive stuff at this point! I did buy some fabric to make some stuff with my sewing machine, but hell, I may as well just went and bought new clothes! It isn't always cheaper to do it yourself, that's for sure. I need new bras badly. Everything is shrinking (and heading south, including the boobs). But that works for me. I'm tired of hauling these bad boys around and my back is loving the lighter front load! HA! Oh! Oh! A couple weeks ago a friend and I hiked up a mountain road about a mile. We would have kept going but the sun was going down and we didn't want to be stumbling around in the dark and falling into the washouts. I never got tired or ran out of breath going up hill so that was pretty cool! In fact, before, when I walked up hill and tried to talk at the same time that didn't work to good cuz I was catching breaths between words. This time I couldn't shut up the entire way up the hill (yackety yak yak yak). My friend was probably wishing I would run out of breath so I would shut up! LOL I have been experimenting with different foods and even had a little piece of prime rib on Easter. YUM! I've had it again since then and it seems to be staying down fine. I've also been living off salad bars. Souplantation is accepting my little card saying I've had the surgery and only charge me kid prices as does some Sizzlers. Not all Sizzlers, though. That is a plus, for sure - it's nice to be a cheap date! Well, that's all for now! More later~~~~

4/23/04 - 262! So much for that plateau! It's still falling off! (Happy Dancing)

7/16/04 - 242 Wow! I've had all kinds of stuff happen since my last post. I hit another plateau (not unusual) but the inches still kept melting off which was OK by me! I started a new job in May and it involves sitting in front of a dispatch console all day (911/fire) so I have to remember to get up and do laps around the room every now and then. The good thing though, is that I'll have more days and time to get to the gym! I have gone down 5 sizes which rules! I really like the idea of clothing exchanges, especially with all this extra fluff falling off. I'm a total bargain hunter now when it comes to clothes! Heck - I'm just happy I can fit into cheap Kmart clothing! LOL I had my 6 mo check up with Doc Rumsey a couple weeks ago and I'm right where I should be. I'm really looking forward to starting to travel and will be going to Baja in Dec for a week. I can't wait! Sunshine, here I come!

8/26/04 - 232 Well, another 10 lbs gone! It has been a challenge keeping up with staying focused due to the new job and hours but that is settling down and I can concentrate on getting back to the gym on a regular basis starting next week. I feel SOOOOO good!!! I can do so much more than I could just mere months ago! It is really amazing how by just taking off a little at a time really adds up to mobility, etc!! I'm working on getting a little more lithe before a trip to Baja in December and my goal is to be below 200 by Feb when I go on a weeklong cruise to the Mexican Riviera! Also, if you happen to read this and you're in Socal, I'm hosting a clothing exchange this weekend (Sat, Aug 28th) in Ontario, CA. Check the regional postings/messageboards for more info! I posted info today. Ciao for now!

10/13/04 - 222 Whoa!!! After being stuck for awhile (but the inches kept coming off which is FINE BY ME, thankyouverymuch!) I'm down another 10 lbs! Don't drive yourself crazy and keep weighing yourself when you're stuck. It'll drive you mad. I finally just stopped and one day I hopped on out of the blue and I had lost 5 lbs. I waited again a couple weeks and had lost another 5. The bod is just doing its thing catching up, again. I did a major HaPpY DaNcE when I hit the 220's!! I haven't seen them in YEARS! Back to the grind now! Hopefully my next report will be BELOW 200!

12/13/04 - 212 Well, still not quite UNDER 200 BUT I blame that on all the good food and margaritas (whoops...did I type that out loud? ::snicker::)while visiting Cabo and La Paz, in Baja last week! That's sorta how I celebrated my year anniversary and enjoying a nice vacation. Not much more to report other than that...life's been pretty uneventful actually! Gonna make an appointment with my primary care doc to see about getting a boob job. Guys, close your eyes, unless you really want the details. Let's just say that when I graduated high school at a lithe 140 lbs, I had big boobs. I was a 38D. So, after gaining lots of weight all those years you can imagine they only got bigger. At my largest point I was in a 50DDD/E bra size and let me tell you it ain't easy finding a boulder holder that BIG! I could've sling-shot a 747 across the US (and probably Atlantic) with that thing. Well, now that I've shrunk I can actually buy a "normal" bra at WallyWorld. However, though the girth disappeared, the "units" haven't gone down much in cup size and are now big time pointed south. In the morning I practically gotta toss them back over each shoulder while getting ready for work, just to get them out of the way (ok, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration). So, I've decided to go and ask the doc for a MAJOR REDUCTION. Something I've actually always wanted to do anyway. After spending so many years hauling these suckers around I figure I'd be super happy with a B cup. Now most would probably say, "Oh no! That's TOO small!" Well phooey on anyone who thinks that. Hey! I WAS gonna ask for ironing board FLAT or maybe an "A" size! So, there you have it. Enough boob talk for now. Ok guys, you can open your eyes again A bodacious TATA (no pun intended) for now!

03/28/05 - 197! Yippee!!! FINALLY below the 200 mark! Even after enjoying a week on a cruise to Mexico last month and surviving mainlining margaritas and great food. Well, time to get back to business. I've been doing weight training and still swim laps a few days a week at the gym. Every time I run into someone they comment on how much I'm shrinking. I don't notice it but they do. I do notice it in my clothes though. Everything is getting loose again, after having hit a plateau for awhile. Darnit. Gotta go buy MORE new clothes! (FINGERSNAP-Chortle...muahahahaha) I love Old Navy. I really love the fact I can walk in and buy something off the rack. Now, THAT ROCKS!

07/29/05 - 180! Well, still losin...albeit slower these days, but it's still coming off. I have been going through clothes like crazy though! I guess that's a good thing - good thing I can shop at the cheap stores now! LOL Still pretty much the same though - the weight comes off slowly BUT the inches FALL off and that rocks. I've been VERY fortunate and the working out on a regular basis has really paid off. I don't have a lot of hanging skin and have been able to spring back and stay toned. So, its hard work but it pays off, kids! Swimming is the way to go (in my opinion). I still swim laps for an hour at least two or three times a week and that has really worked for me. More soon!

01/05/06 - 180'ish Eeeeehhhh...I've been hovering around the same weight now for the past several months and can't seem to break it. NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION: GET BUSY! I still want to drop another 25 or 30 lbs. However, I'm still losing inches and I'm in a size 14 pant (OMG!) and med/large JUNIOR top. Whoa. I've also been doing a lot of hiking and walking pursuing my hobby (addiction) to geocaching so that involves lots of exploration and hiking at times! Other than that, not much to report!

March 2006 - 172! FINALLY! Broke out of the dang 180's and heading down again. Down to a size 12. I had to go out and spend $200 on new uniforms that fit. But I'd rather be buying the smaller ones! (grin) I'm shooting (realistically) for my goal of 150'ish but I'd settle for 160. I feel great, have the energy of a freight train out of control (rolling downhill with no brakes) and can't sit still for long without getting bored or wanting to be "out there". (YES, that's PHYSICALLY, not mentally, my little Cheeky Monkeys!) I'm participating in the LA Marathon on March 19th and will be walking the 26.2 mile course with friends. I can't wait! After all, I'm just a glutton for punishment...har!

March 18th, 2006 - The LA Marathon is tomorrow! We're stoked. Excited. Wondering why we're so nuts to be doing this. Masochistic. Ah, hell...it'll be FUN! Yesterday we picked up our packets at the LA Convention Center and got all kinds of free goodies. Today is a "rest" day...kick back, do absolutely nothing, eat, hydrate, etc. Tonight we'll load up on carbs (pizza) and head out first thing in the morning. Check out all the cool stuff we got in the pic below! 18 hours to the marathon and counting!

October 20th, 2006 - Hello Crew!  Not much to report. In August I started a new career with CHP as a dispatcher and love it.   Getting ready to participate in the Las Vegas Marathon in December!  Then planning on doing the 2007 LA Marathon again, but bike it this time.  That's about it for now.

November 23rd, 2007 - Dayam! What a year!  A lot of changes, all for the better.  I bought my first house with acreage up in the high desert of SoCal and love it.  I'm back working with fire and I didn't realize how much I missed it.  Back to work on reaching my goal, but I've maintained where I'm at this whole time.  Now, it's time to get on the bandwagon. (Of course, having a new guypal to encourage me doesn't hurt, either ::wink::).
