I have always had a weight problem. In the last few years it has really started to effect my life. I have fibromyalgia, arthritis in my back and knees, 2 herniated, bulging discs in my back, severe sleep apnea, carpal tunnel and a frozen achillies heel.
In April of '06, my mom, who lived with my daughter & I, had a stroke, two weeks later I had a heart attack. On that day we had to put my Stepmom, who was only 6 yrs older than me, a great friend and was dying of liver cancer, into a hospice because my sister & I couldn't look after her
Two days later while they were repairing my heart I went into cadiac arrest and then had congestive heart failure. Three days later my mom died and a week later my stepmom died.
Things were hard because my mom had contributed to our expenses. I was able to get on disability and that helped.
I have tried everything and between medications, lack of sleep, pain, and dealing with my daughters' and my grief I think I am lucky I have only gained 10 lb. since my heart attack. Of course all my doc's and family keep telling me I need to loose lots of weight. I know they are right.
Finding OH has given me hope. After much research, discussion, tests by my Drs. today, 19/09/08, my Dr. sent the papers off to OHIP to request DS surgery with Dr. Lutzkowski.
I have been warned not to get too excited because Dr. L. will make the final decision as to whether I can have the surgery, so I will wait patiently, pray a lot and dream of running on the sand at Sauble Beach with my daughter Sydney.
