Hello everyone!  This is my first post.  I will be attending wls seminars on 9/3 and 9/8.  I am gathering info on doctors and hospitals from the net and from co-workers that have had wls.  My husband is against it as he is afraid I will die or be harmed by the surgery or its outcome.  He wants to know where the 70 and 80 year old people are that have had the surgery.  I understand his concerns, but I cannot keep living like this.  I am the world's greatest loser and greatest gainer.  I am horrible at maintaining a loss.  I have gained and lost so much weight in my 52 years.  I do great on a diet, then fall off the wagon and continue to play under the wheels.  I have not taken this decision lightly and am researching for the best doc and facility.  Of course, I have to start with my insurance which is blue cross PPO and work backwards.  So far the hospitals are Mercy San Juan and UCD Med Center.  By the way, I live in Sacramento so if anyone out there has had experience with either of those hospitals, I would love to hear from you.  I am checking into Dr. Laura Machado at Mercy San Juan and Drs Ali and Fuller at UCD.  I weigh 300 and am 5'6".  Thank goodness I am unbelievably healthy.  Even my regular doc says I have the blood work of a young athelete!  My sisters are one year older and one year younger than me and they are both small women and have lots of health issues.  I got the good genes and hair in the family!  I work in a personnel office of a school district and have been here 21 years.  I love my job and the people I work with.  All in all, I am a very happy, very healthy woman who wants to live a non-fat life.  I will keep you posted on my journey.  Again, if anyone has personal info on Drs. Machado, Ali or Fuller, I would love to hear about it.
