For the last four years I've been wanting to have WLS. I kept telling myself once I had better insurance I'd begin the process. When I began teaching last year I thought for sure now I could look into surgery again. I discovered quickly that many school districts in my area will not pay a cent for any WLS. I told myself maybe one day I would work in a district that covers it. It made me sad to think I might have to leave my school and a job I love in order to get the surgery. I went to my gyno in early June and discovered my weight had now reached 330 lbs. I was shocked, and disheartened. My Dr. mentioned that the name of a WL surgeon nearby and the rest was history. When I hear about the VSG procedure I knew it was the right one for me. Although it is expensive to finance this surgery, I am ready and worth it. I'm tired of putting things off for another day. Because I'm paying myself I was able to schedule my surgery quickly and that has been important to me. I'm excited to have begun this journey.
