Almost hit my goal!!!

Oct 03, 2009

Well I am 1 lb away from my goal, I have lost 96 pounds.  It is 15 months post op and I am feeling great and very happy I did this!  I recomend it to everyone!  LOL
OK well those that might need it.  I am continually amazed at what this has done for me!
I can't eat anything I want to, but the benefits out weigh the negatives! I can't say that my journey has been an easy one, but it has been totally worth it!
If anyone has any questions I would love to support any who need it!  Keep up the hard work and it is all worth it!

Hi again everyone! Down 78 in less than 6 months.

Dec 29, 2008

Just wanted to say hi again!  It has been a very long time since I posted, well OK a few months, but in weight loss it has been awhile.  I am down 78 pounds in one year and 68 pounds since surgery.  It has not been easy and there are times when I think I am the only one that this will not work for but the weight just keeps coming off.  I have started at the gym and I love it!  It is so different to walk in and be proud of how you look rather than embarrased to even step inside the door.  I am still learning what and what not to eat, how slow to eat and how often to eat.  My hair has been falling out, but it seems to have slowed down lately, although it has not stopped.  I am going to keep thinking thin in body not in hair!!!  I have shrunk out of all of my clothes, I am down into a size 8 and mediums on tops.  I just lost another 5 pounds and worried at how much difference a couple of pounds makes in sizes and fit when you get down into the lower sizes.  I recommend not buying more than a couple pair of pants as you go through sizes, you will be amazed at how soon you will be buying the next size down.  Thank goodness the gas prices have gone down, that way I can afford more new clothes!!!
Wondering when it will stop, have my 6 month appointment on Jan. 6th.  I will hopefully find out what my goal weight is, and anything else I need to know.  I am on iron, a daily vitamin and also on calcium for the vitamin D.  I will stop back and let everyone know what the Dr. has to say!
If anyone has any ideas on slowing down hair loss, or on helping skin go back where it needs to be, please post and let me know.
For the skin, I have been using a skin firming cream that has been working wonders, starts with an A, tried Oil of Olay skin firming cream and I liked it but I think the other one works better.  and Oil of Olay has a glitter in it that rubs off on your clothes.
OK I am out of here for now!! Good Luck everyone!
I would do it again in a NY minute!!!!

Well it has been a bit hard for me the last week.  I went back to work and even though it is only half days for summer, it about kicked my butt!  I was wore out all week last week would get home around 1:00 sleep a couple hours and then up for a little while and then back to bed by 9:00.  Sleeping is still not comfortable, hard to sleep on my side, and deffinantly not my stomach, I have to sleep on my back with a pillow under my legs still.
The last couple days I have had an upset stomach.  Everything is going straight through me.  Hard to go anywhere, not sure what I ate or what did it.  It has been a bit rough though.
Walking has helped me a lot, it makes me feel better and keeps my energy up.  I feel like I have been dragging a bit.
I am very emotional, I cry all the time, over just about anything.
I have lost more, I am down to 202 this morning.
Protein shakes are still a little hard for me to drink.  I have found a gym that makes them from scratch and they are much better than the ready to drink ones.  I can't drink a whole one at a time, but I stop on the way home from work every day and get one.  Then sip for the 40 min. drive home.  When school starts back up, I think I will try doing one at lunch and one after school, that will be my two a day.
I am going to have to invest in some powder and do my own shakes for the time I am not in school and weekends!
I can honestly say I am totally sick of pureed food.  It is killing me.  Soups are my best friend especially now that I am backing off of solids again.
It really is a roller coaster ride.

Well here I am again, 9 days out from surgery, had my first follow up appt.  yesterday.  Everything went well.  I had a great visit.  They were very nice and let me move on to pureed foods.  I came home and had tuna and mayo, pureed, with seasoning, it was just like eating a tuna salad.  I liked it!!  I then had mashed potatos and fish for dinner, it was fine as well.  By the end of the night I had a VERY full feeling!
OK lets back up.  I am still sleeping alot, I finally slept in my bed about 6 days out from surgery and then not so comfortably.  I had to struggle to still get up and down.  I was walking, but uncomfortably.  Monday 7 days out I did too much and paid for it the next day.  I was still doing the stairs one foot at a time until this morning.
The first week I felt hungry all the time, now that I have gone to pureed food, I don't have that feeling, now I just feel like I need to go the bathroom and can not.  Im sure it will all be fine in the end.  Drinking apple juice and backing off the food for a while.  I slept great for the first time last night, only woke up a couple times and did not have to get up, even for pain killers.  I have only taken tylenol today so I have been awake a little more than other days.  I will be going to the store in the morning, that will be fun to find all kinds of new things to eat.  This is an advanture all the way around!  I ordered a bunch of new cookbooks from Amazon, so it will be fun to get them and start looking at some of the new things we can eat.  My son is going to Culinary camp this summer so it is going to be wonderful to explore some great new eating habits together.  I am very lucky that he likes many things that kids his age don't like fish, he loves it and if it looks good he will at least try it!  Well I will check back in, talk to everyone soon!

Jul 05, 2008

Hi everyone, I am 5 days out from surgery.  I had it on July 1st.  I am still in the recoup section.  I think I overdid it the first day out of surgery and pulled a stomach muscle.  It seems to still be my biggest problem.  I am up and walking around though and food seems to be staying down fine and neusea doesn't seem to be too bad.  I am so not hungry though and have to force myself to eat and then after only a couple of sips I am feeling very full.  Bananas look very yummy to me right now, and as someone else said in a post, an egg sounds absolutely wonderful, but I don't want to cause any damage, so I think I will be fine waiting.  I sleep a lot right now, but did run myself into the ground before surgery as I had emergency gallbladder surgery two weeks before on June 16th (it didn't want to wait for the 1st) and then I moved my whole house the weekend before surgery.
I wouldn't recommend the doing way to much before.  I think it would have been easier if I had been a bit more rested.  Overall I happy with how things are going and missing the 4th for a whole new outlook on life will be OK for this year!!  I can not wait until the party next year though!!!  I have never been a drinker, but I have always liked the parties and it will be a lot of fun in a brand new body!!
