Here are just a few of the websites that helped me with my decision....
Not to mention reading hundreds of profiles of post-surgery patients!

Just one of my posts that I thought summed it all up...

Yeah...that hernia...I feel like I'm pregnant with an alien!
Those pictures on my profile of the lower body lift that didn't heal well are of a relative (she didn't have wls, just lost alot of weight). After seeing what she went through worries me a little but she had a revision and healed fine from that surgery. She just wasn't in the best of health and actually had anorexia (we didn't realize it at the time, can you say denial?) when she had that first surgery and I think she was suffering from malnutrition. She even ended up with bilateral pneumonia! But she is fine now (minus a bellybutton).
I am being careful with taking all my vitamins and getting in my protein so I'm fairly confident I won't end up like her.
I just keep in mind that yes, her first surgery went downhill but IMO it was totally preventable. Just goes to show you that your state of nutrition directly affects your ability to heal.
As far as my anxiety level...I'm really not to nervous about it. I tend to stay in denial until I'm in the OR! I had a breast reduction in '97 and it healed very poorly but again...totally preventable. I smoked when I had it done. When you are a smoker you hear the doctors blaming smoking on so many things that it starts sounding like a cop-out and you get to where you don't believe them. That's why I continued to smoke...I didn't believe them when they said it would affect healing.
By the way, my doc is going to revise my old breast reduction scars with this round of plastics. Now that makes me nervous because, they may be scarred and pitted but I'm finally used to what they look like that I'm afraid it might just mess them up again!
I'm tellin' ya...these doctors don't come up with their rules, guidelines and surgery prep instructions by pulling them out of their hats...there really are reasons for all those things. I know that all too well by what my relative and I have been through!
Anyway, don't let those pictures frighten you but let them worry you enough that you follow the doctors intructions to the T!
Wish me luck...I'm going in Friday morning!

Waiting on plastics...

Well...I have my surgery in about a week.
Getting anxious and a little worried about the pain but I can't really say that I'm nervous.
If you don't know, I'm having a tummy tuck, hernia repair, the girls lifted and a lower blepharoplasty March 9th.
It's gonna hurt but it will sooo be worth it!!!
Later Tater!

One Year Re-birthday / Surgiversary!!!
Dec 20, 2006
Good morning everyone!
I just wanted to pop in here to announce my one year surgiversary/re-birthday and that I lost 95lbs!
I was hoping to announce 100lbs but since I'm at goal at one year out...I am a happy camper!!! I was just hoping for the nice round number of 100.
I have a consult appointment in two weeks (Jan 2nd) to see about hernia repair, TT and possibly have the girls lifted. I must just be lucky with genetics...I have alot of extra skin that I wouldn't have expected for a 95 lb loss. I think the future will probably include a thigh lift and batwings but I think I can live with those issues for a couple more years so I can get some of this debt payed off...I'm still paying on my trip to Marchesini last year and here I am getting ready to spend another chunk! It's all worth it though.
Hugs to all!
Happy Holidays!

I haven't updated recently besides adding photos.
I have made an appointment with Dr. Turkle in Indy to see about having my hernia repaired and getting a TT at the same time. She did my breast reduction back in Nov 1996...it's very close to my 10 year anniversary of that, wow time flies!
I have been hovering around 135 'ish for almost 2 months now. Gaining and losing the same 5 lbs or so. I've been eatting way too much sugar...halloween candy. That's got to stop! But now Thanksgiving is right around the corner and Christmas...I probably won't lose anymore until January! Oh well, I know if I could eat alittle bit better it would still fall off...I just need to...not diet, no, that's not we have to do anymore...just not eat like a 5 year old in a candy store!!!
My BMI has been hovering around 25 so that's pretty good. I started at around 43. I feel great, definitely healthier!
My appointment with Turkle is January 2nd...I had to wait until the first of the year because my insurance is changing and she's not part of my plan I currently have but will be on the new one.
I'll update more later...at least after I see the Dr.
