August 23rd !!
Aug 07, 2011
Well, the day I have been waiting to happen for 8 months will happen on August 23rd! My Roux-en-Y will take place that day! My emotions have been all over the place, and when I start the liquid diet in a couple more days, I'm sure my emotions will just remain on the roller coaster.
In all honesty, the call that insurance approved the surgery was a great relief. I don't remember ever getting a phone call and feeling like the world had been lifted from my shoulders, but that is exactly what this felt like. Then, as we scheduled surgery, I was in shock a little bit. Surgery became real, no longer an event that I talked about that would happen "sometime" in the future. Of course, I was a little nervous, I think that's pretty normal. But now, only 15 days away from surgery, I feel excited. I'm ready to begin this journey for the rest of my life. I'm looking forward to experimenting with full liquids and pureed foods. I'm looking forward to the day that my niece and nephew can hug me and get their hands all the way around me. I'm excited about the benefits of exercise not being as painful as they are right now!
So many things to look forward to as my life is about to change. I'm grateful to have a wonderful and supportive husband. He has been with me every step of the way, and he will continue to be my rock. My family is pretty awesome, and even if they don't quite understand it yet, they are incredibly supportive of my choice.
I'm grateful to have an amazing surgeon and healthy living team behind me. My doctors, PA's, nurse practitioners, nurses, trainers, support group and everyone else that supports me are truly a gift.
