I am just writing in to relieve a little tension and admit my wrongdoing. I had a doctors appointment yesterday afternoon and was really feeling good about it. However, yesterday morning we had a potluck at work and I have to say, I nibbled all day long, granted it was carrots, cauliflower, cheese and strawberries, but I ate more than I should have (especially knowing that I had to put both feet on a scale.) Well, when I got to the doctors office I was told that I had lost 99 pounds since November 20, 2001. Yes, I think this is great, but I asked the doctor why he couldn't just give me that extra pound, because I knew I had lost it, it was just that I ate lunch just before weighing. He had no sympathy for me. He just laughed and said, you eat, you pay. He then reminded me that I had set a personal goal of losing 100 pounds by my 48th birthday, which is August 14th, so jokingly he said, "you have another 3 months to lose one more pound." I had to admit that I was pleased and that I was sure that in the next day or two I would lose that last pound (especially if we don't have any more potlucks.) So, I am one pound away from the century club and it has only been 6 months. I am totally thrilled with my progress. BUT I WILL LOSE THIS OTHER POUND!!!cj

Tomorrow will be 23 weeks since I had surgery. I am so lucky, I have had no complications, no vomiting, no problems of any kind. I am so happy I had this surgery, I would do it again in a flash. I have spent the last 4 weeks plateaued and I decided it was because of the amount of carbs and fats that I was eating. Today I have looked myself in the mirror and gave myself a good talking to. I found a liquid vitamin that is tasty and meets all the requirements. I opened the bottle and the smell instantly took me back to my childhood when I was taking a vitamin called Vi-daylin. It smelled exactly the same. Doesn't quite taste the same, but I like it. I purchased a wig this weekend and it is going to take a little getting used to. I have gotten nothing but rave reviews from co-workers, but I can't look in the mirror without wondering, what is that on your head. I was getting down to where I had about 10 hairs left on the top of my head and when I pull my hair into a pony tail it isn't even the size of a dime. If it grows back, fine, if it doesn't, fine. I am so happy to be losing weight that hair is a small price to pay. In my 23 weeks I have lost about 92 pounds and I am feeling great. I have a new picture up, but I will need to update it again with the new hair. My prayers are with you all and may you have a wonderful week.cj

Carla, as another non-dumper, I feel your pain! To be sure you are getting enough protein you may want to track your eating on fitday.com or something like it. Also, I swear by GNCs Hair and Nail vitamins. I lost hair for 3.5 months and then it started re-growing and its never stopped. My hair is getting nice and think again! Best wishes to you!

I have hit the 4 week post-op point and have lost a total of 33 pounds. I am having a lot of trouble telling if I am hungry or nauseated. I wake up in the morning and feel sick to my stomach and soda crackers are about the only thing that I can find that will soak this up. I can not get 60 grams of protein in per day, any hints. I have tried a protein powder that has no flavor but it makes food so thick and dry, you have to use 1/2 a cup of powder to get 30 grams of protein. I found a drink that has a lot of protein in it but it is sooooo sweet it just about makes me sick. Any ideas on meal plans would be greatly appreciated. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

How are you doing after your surgery? Hope all went well and you are on your way to a new heathier life. Good Luck! I am in the process of getting approval for my own surgery with Dr Patterson in Oregon.
