On his pinky.
Sep 03, 2008
That's the only place my newly re-sized wedding rings fit him.
So, I had been putting off getting my rings sized for a while. I looked into ring guards, but was told repeatedly to just use a band-aid since the guards tend to break and can be uncomfortable. Well, by mid-summer I had several feet of first aid tape wrapped around my rings to make them fit. In fact, by the time I went in, there was almost 1/4" of extra space filled in by the tape! I finally went in last Friday to get them sized, which is free at Shane Co anyway. I had taken off the tape and told the salesperson I needed my rings sized down. She checks and sees that they're a size 9, comments that we can start by going down "a little" and recommends an 8, maybe an 8 1/2. Uh, yeah. I put on an 8 and held up my hand to show her that wasn't gonna cut it. And I ended up having them brought down to... a size seven!!! Chuck picked them up today on his way home, all sparkly and clean, and I looked at this teeny, tiny, itty bitty ring and asked if he could even fit one finger. His pinky, on his left hand, was the only one that fit.
Ah, it's the little things...

Has it been six months already??? Yep, I'm going in today for my 6mo check-up. I will definitely be back to tell you how it goes. For now, I'm trying to stay busy, so I'm going to Mo's school to help the librarian for a while. This morning I went to the gym and took my favorite class, so I could tell Dr. Schoen I've been working out.
Which I have been, but not in an organized, scheduled manner... Hoping to work this class into my Wednesday morning routine. Especially since I probably won't be working on Wednesdays unless Mo can walk to my work, since she gets out at 1:30 every Wednesday.
OK, I'm off to school! (Which apparently has a new sign-in system that requires me to bring in my driver's license. Hell, half the time I don't even have my keys with me! Gonna have to work on this...)

Heartwarming Housewarming
Aug 23, 2008
We spent the afternoon at a housewarming party for our friends and Morgan's theatre director. One of the guests commented on my dress, a cute brown and green Evan Picone, and I just had to tell everyone it is a size 14.
I do fit in some 12 and 10 dresses now, but this one has flattering princess seaming, so I still look cute. After I finished the protein shake I always take with me to start a party, I had a smidgen of grilled salmon (yum!) and about 4 potato chips. Fun day!
Before we went to the party, I started to mow the lawn. I got sidetracked by the obnoxious tree with screwed-up branches that hang to the ground, so I went and got Chuck. He pruned the problem tree, then the birch trees with branches that hang way down onto the sidewalk. Then we ripped out the not-so-decorative bulbs and the big ugly bush in the front. I hate that, after removing a relatively large amount of greens, the front of the house looks so much better! Tomorrow we tackle the backyard. Which is roughly 7 times the size of the front...

Back to school!

So we went out for our traditional ice cream tonight. Mmm, Coldstone Creamery... My favorite post-op treat now, which I save for very, very special occasions! I had a kiddie-sized Sinless Sweet Cream with peanut butter and chocolate shavings mixed in. Repenting now with a late-night protein shake.
My timing
Aug 16, 2008
still sucks. Tonight Mo has a sleepover, and Chuck and I are going to a Broncos preseason game. And it has been pouring for 36 hours straight. I'm going to freeze my ass off, and not in a good way!
The good news is, I had to buy a new pair of jeans. The last pair I bought in an actual store was a size 18. I had 2 pair of size 16 denim crops that I got for $1/ea at a thrift store, and a pair of 14 denim shorts. I've spent the whole summer in the shorts and some gauchos, so I didn't even think about sizing. Yesterday I tried on some of my 16 jeans, and they were so big. The butt was bagging down to my knees! So I decided to go ahead and get some 14 jeans. But when I went into the fitting room they were too big!!! The 12s I got are a little tight, but they won't be for long. I'm going to wear them tonight with my new medium Broncos tee.
Under a layer of thick, waterproof plastic.

OK, so I haven't posted. In Quite. Some. Time. Mostly because summer is just crazy busy, but also because I owe a phone call to someone, and I feel so guilty about not calling, and I know they read my blog, and I have been feeling like I can't really justify blogging if I haven't gotten around to calling. However, it is already 11pm here, so even though I will call, and I want to call, it is too late to call, but not too late to post. So I will get you all a little bit up-to-date.
We went to Las Vegas for a few days while Mo was at sleep-away camp and had a lot of fun for not much money. Vegas is great, be it only for the fact that it is only a 1 1/2hr flight from here! Anywhere on the East coast seems to take the whole day, what with layovers and time changes... I wore some super-cute dresses, wore my workout clothes (my new favorite black Nike crops) out in public on purpose for probably the first time in 15 years or so, and wore "shorts," albeit bermudas!
Monday I took Mo shopping for a few back-to-school necessities, and, of course, ended up finding a few things for myself. Including another dress. (Size 10!!!!) For which I need to purchase cute new shoes. Got some nice tees to wear with my new hoody collection, and also a pretty, simple brown top to wear with my $1 thrift-store tweed skirt collection. (Haven't decided what to wear with my $1 thrift-store corduroy skirt collection yet.) Shopping online tonight for a jacket - I bought a size Large Lands' End light down jacket on clearance this spring, which is great, but I really need a fleece for most days. I love the stretchy aspect of fleece, as I have always been super-picky about ease of movement when I am driving!
Today Chuck took the day off and we went to Elitch's with Mo and her friend S. Had a blast watching the three of them ride the coasters, which I won't do, and riding a variety of the mellower rides. Then we went over to the water park, where I promptly slammed the hell out of my poor tailbone on the first ride we went on. So I left the three of them on the slides I didn't want to do anyway and went over to the lazy river for about an hour! Trying to figure out what to do about my rear end, planning on asking Dr. Schoen about my protruding tailbone at my 6 month (!!!) appointment at the end of this month.
I know I owe you all pictures. I haven't even had any taken in the last month! And even though I swear I'll get some up before then, I'm already thinking about investing in a really nice photo of the three of us for Christmas cards...

De-Mow-ded
Jun 29, 2008
I mowed the lawn today, and earned myself some serious extra calories to eat, but Chuck says I suck at mowing and I'm not gonna get paid. All because I don't make straight lines! I tend to approach mowing like vacuuming, sliding back and forth in weird corners, but I also meander a little when I'm going across the yard. (It doesn't help that our yard is shaped like an E, but written in some strange font. And there are chew toys, doggie doo, and a trampoline to dodge.) Let's put it this way -- I'll never get a job painting road stripes...
So I earned that pedicure!!! I'm down into a new set of numbers, weight wise, and I put on and zipped up a pair of size 14 pants last week. They weren't pretty, and it wasn't because they were crappy, high-waisted, tapered thrift store pants, but because they were rather snug. But still, I buttoned and zipped them without incident!
Why haven't I gotten the pedicure yet? Because, besides making crop circles with the mower to earn calories, I've been... wait for it... wearing a swimsuit in public. And thus, swimming! I located a moderately priced underwire Miraclesuit (I would have paid a lot for a pretty suit, but couldn't find what I needed, happened upon this one and decided it would be just fine for this year) and lucked out on a pair of nylon shorts from Target. Two weeks ago Mo and I went to our friend's apartment pool to splash around, and then last week we went to Water World with the same friends. (And felt a LOT better about myself after seeing all the horribly ill-fitting suits there. O.M.G. I know very few of us want to look in the mirror when trying on swimsuits, but come on, sometimes you really should!!) This afternoon we went to a pool over by Mo's school that was soooo warm, and really not crowded at all. Chuck and I burned even more calories laughing our butts off at Mo's repeated attempts at diving from the side of the pool, which inevitably turned into belly-flops. Ouch!
P.S. I know, I know, I owe you pictures! Soon, I promise!

Wii got a We. Or something like that... The agreement was that we would split the cost with Mo - she got b-day money from Great-Grandparents Rog & Dorie, so she was ready to go. On Thursday night we met up with her best friend (whose b-day was one day before Mo's) and her mom so we could grab dinner before taking them to Coldstone for free ice cream. After dinner, Mo wanted to go to Best Buy to see if they had any Wiis, since she knows sometimes they are hard to find. Of course, little did she know we already had one in the car. We set it up today, played a little, and Mo and I talked about how cool it would be when we got the Wii Fit for yoga. So Chuck walks into his office and comes back with the balance board.
We know they're hard to find right now - less have been sent to the US than Europe because the dollar is so weak - so when Chuck was in Walmart at 8am the other day and they were unloading the half-dozen or so that they got, he went ahead and picked one up. What a sweetie... I'll let you know how it goes.
As for my new jeans, they're too big. I'm down about 4lbs in the last 2 weeks, which puts me really, really close to a BIG digit change. I can hardly wait - it's all I can do not to get on the scale every 10 minutes. On the day it happens, I'm treating myself to a pedicure and scheduling a facial.

Creek
May 25, 2008
The festival is going pretty well - yesterday I wore the aforementioned gold dress, and I got so many compliments... from skinny girls! I joked with customers about my phobia of wearing metallics during daylight hours. I wore my Angel earrings and the domino necklace I made for my cousin's rehearsal dinner, and got a lot of compliments on those, too.
A handful of customers noticed my weight loss, a few noticed only my hair, but I had a lot of vendors looking at me funny and trying to place me.

Coincidence?

Well, I'm happy to say that I'm down another 6lbs as of this morning, for a grand total of 54 since Feb. 25th. I'm not sure if this is going to become a pattern, but I've definitely noticed once before that I was S-T-A-R-V-I-N-G the day my weight dropped dramatically, and sure enough, I swear I would eat anything right now! And, of course, the cabinet is stocked right now with goodies for Creek. I need more will power!
