I had my surgery consult and Dr. Ramos didn't mention the IVC filter that day. but called this week and said I had to have an EGD and an IVC filter.  I sort of flipped out about the IVC filter, but since have realized the pertinence.  I have sleep apnea and a BMI of 49 which apparently puts me at a higher risk for clots.  I just wonder how many more tests there will be.  My EGD is this week and I don't have a date for the IVC yet.  I see my PCP again this week as well to go over results of EKG and blood work.  My EKG was borderline abnormal according to the report, so I fear that may mean more tests as well.  Guess I'll find out then. 
I would love to hear from anyone who has had the filter and those that have had their filter removed.  I am concerned about if it will actually be removable.  I know that it can be difficult to remove.
