I am a 39 year old woman that has been dealing with weight problems for only the last 5 years. I have a wonderful husband who supports me, thick or thin. Before having children, I was thin. I've had many problems adapting to the new me. Still loving myself, but not liking the fact that I am so heavy. I guess that I can't get use to the fact that since my weight.... my back, knees, and feet hurt. I am totally uncomfortable sitting in the little seats on the airplane... but most of all... I have three small children that I am unable to run and play with.
My journey to weight loss surgery began in December 2007. I decided that before my 40th birthday, that I needed to make some lifestyle changes. The first would be getting the weight off. After many failed fad diets and visit to weight loss centers, I decided to take a different approach. There were many times on my journey that I wanted to give up because I was being led in circles by my PCP. The odd thing is that my PCP lead me to Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics. When it came time for my PCP to submit his paperwork.... he dragged it out. My insurance that was to cover the surgery ended before he completed his paperwork. I was in tears and thought that I would not be able to have the surgery unless I finance it out-of-pocket. After discussing the issue with a person in my support circle.. they told me to purchase the COBRA insurance. Thank God that Cobra extended my insurance coverage and my surgery is scheduled for April 7, 2008.
