5 months Post Op
Apr 16, 2007
This month has been another slow one but at least I am making progress. I am down another 10 lbs which brings the total post surgery to 64 lbs. I went 3 weeks and only realy lost about a pound then last week I added back 2 protein drinks per day (I was only eating my protein) and dropped about 8 lbs in 8 days! I can only pray that this will keep up. I have lost a lot of inches (not sure how many but will post when I do my next weigh and measure) but I am still in a size 22 ish. That is better than squeezing myself into the size 26 and looking like an overstuffed cabbage roll. The 22 is a good fit, not too tight.
4 months out.

I can't believe it has been so long since I have entered anything into my Blog. I must confess, I actually forgot how to get her since they changed things. I just stumbled into it this evening while trying to update my weight.
Anyway, 4 months post op and 54 lbs lost since surgery. 72 lbs from my highest weight.
I am a "slow loser" so I really push the exercise. I have been going to Curves for the past 3 months at least 3 times per week and most weeks I go 5 or 6 times. I also am walking 4-5 days per week on my lunch hour. I think I am building muscle mass so in the long run maybe the weight loss will speed up. I am STRONG and Healthy. I haven't been sick, not even a cold or flu. That is amazing! I was always catching any little bug going around. I know the vitamins I am taking have a key role in keeping the bugs away.
I fould some new products that I have added to my daily vitamin regimen. They are called Isotonix..from Market America. I take something called OPC3 which is an anti-oxident supplement that is a benefit for the heart, joints, skin and many other things. I also am taking something called Mochatonix. It is a mocha drink that is loaded with B vitamins, Biotin, and special herbal blends to encrease energy, brain function and fat loss. Will see how they go after a month. I can tell a great difference in my energy level already. I have recently discovered that I like to work in the yard. I have planted new flower beds in front of my porch. Also, I raked leaves, mowed grass (first time in over 20 years) pulled weeds, cut tree limbs and lots more! I really like it! Anyone interested can go to this website and check it out. www.norman-cindy.com click on health and nutrition on the left side.
Well, I guess that catches me up for now. I will not go 3 months out for my next post...PROMISE.

5 days post-op
Nov 19, 2006
Today is Sunday and it is 5 days after my surgical re-birth. I was pleasantly surprised to have no ill effects from the anestesia or the surgery. I have had very little pain and not much soreness. I think all of the walking the halls the days after surgery really paid off. Anyone who is having surgery needs to listen to the docs and nurses who say walk, walk, walk. It has paid off big time. I have had 2 previous surgeries and both were much, much more painful.
I am still on clear liquids and really looking forward to the next step which is full liquids. Who would have thought I would be dying to have a protein shake? I am not hungry at all. The only thing going on is head hunger. I went to WalMart on Saturday and about cried when I saw McDonalds. I wanted a cheeseburger or a chicken sandwich or just anything. I really had to fight it. I keep telling myself that it will be better when I can get some nurishment. My body is rebelling from having practically no calories and no nutrition. I have had diarhea for 4 days and i am still getting rid of the fluid that built up the 2 days in the hospital. I couldn't urinate till day 3. I am also struggeling trying to get my quota of fluids in every day. Yesterday was about 48 oz and I am relly trying to hit 64 today. I think pushing the fluids will help get the last bit of leftover buildup out.
Anyway, things are actually good even if I do complain a bit. I am not sore and I am able to drink 3 oz of fluid over a 15 min span. I haven't had any nausea or vomitting and I haven't had any problems swallowing. I was using one of my son's sippy cups to teach myself not to gulp but now I can drink from the water bottle which makes it easier to keep up with the fluid intake. All in all- I am glad I made the decision to have the surgery.

Surgery Date 11/14/06
Nov 06, 2006
On Friday 11/3/06 my insurance approved my surgery! The week before, they denied me because I didn't have 5 years of doctor supervised diet failure. Can you believe they couldn't look at my stats and see that obviously I have over 20 years of diet failure?? Anyway, I went back to my PCP and had them pull every office visit that I ever had there and fax the actual doctor chart notes to my insurance. I didn't think it would still be enough because every visit didn't include "diet" notes or full details about what diet I was on at that moment. That was faxed Monday and by Friday I was approved!!!! Just goes to show you that even absurd requests can be overcome with a little prayer and a whole lot of redundant paper work. Oh those poor trees that lost their lives so that insurance could have all of those notes!
Anyway, insurance approved and surgery is in 8 days!!!!!! 8 days OMG!! I have so much to do and on top of everything I have a bad sinus infection. I am taking antibiotics so it should be ok in a couple days.
Well, I guess that is all for now. Will post again soon.
