Jacobo Joffe

"My first impression of Dr. Joffe was a very good one. He is definitely someone who really cares about his patient's welfare and their decision to have this surgery. He really makes sure that you understand what he is telling you before you leave his office and that your decision is not made lightly. His nurse Maggie is wonderful, she has a great sense of humour and really makes you feel at ease in a very nerve-racking situation. As I have only been to see Dr. Joffe once I really have not changed my opinion but was told several times that if I had any questions to not hesitate in contacting him. The only thing that was a little hard to deal with is the wait in the office to see him, it is at least 2 hours but if you have been to any other specialist before this is not new. Future patients should know that he is not for against one procedure over the other except the fact that our government in Canada no longer pays for the lap. band procedure so he has kindly taken to doing it in the times when the operating room is not being used for anything else but the patient pays for the procedure. Dr. Joffe may suggest this one stronger only because he knows how excited people are to have the procedure done and this wait is much shorter. He really emphasizes the aftercare and tells you that this procedure is not a miracle cure that there is still a lot of work to be done on your part. As for the risks he gives a booklet of the risks and aftercare procedures to take home and read then sign and send back to him. I think he is excellent and cannot wait to have this surgery done as I know I will be in good hands. I will let you all know what his bedside manner and surgical competence are like when I get there."
