I have been  reading about some of the trials and tribulations as  am doing research as to whats the best surgery for me. I know of 3 people who had had the Lap band and I am still not convincec that that is the way for me to go. I am more than likely interested in either DS or RNY... not sure.  I have a consult in February with Dr. Kam at Barix. As I understand OHIP covers the RNY... Dr Kam's Office is about 4-5 hours away from me.   I am nervous about all of this!!

A bit about me... I am 42 female  5'2" and I fluctuate between 245-255lbs. BMI 44.8. I have psoriasis & I am a Type ll Diabetic, at my highest weight I was 280. I am prettty much a single mom I have 2 great kids 21 & 11, My loving Hubby of  13 yrs has decided he is not attracted to large woman. (hence the Single MOM) I have been on every diet and diet pill and have been considering a drug Muscle builders use to drop the weight which appararently you can get addicted too(& is for horses)...well DUH!!  or Surgery... So Surgery for me I think (K I know)is something way more permanent, and I think because I have been overweight my entire life is really the only way to go. I started working out like a crazy person( Weight training 2- 3times a week, Cardio, I do Muay Thai and Played Volly Ball this summer(I even got a sports Injury!!) Still going strong with the weight and MT) )Last APril and I lost 30 pounds and over 30 inches which was/is awesome (I went from 24-26 & 5X - 20-22 and depending 1X-2x)but now even though I am really fit( My trainer says I am more fit than alot of men who work out at the gym )... I still have foot pain and knee pain, I am still 255 pounds... It does not matter what I eat... Good, bad or indifferent. I am depressed but I never let my kids or co-workers see it.( I work in a gym.. Believe it or not in Membership sales and doing well with it).. I am going to see my PCP on Friday coming(Feb 1) to talk to him about the surgery. I am not sure he will go for it. But I have to try. I am getting to a point where I just have to do it. I am very confident for a M.Obese woman. For me to apply for a job in a fitness center and for them to hire me I felt was awesome. I am at this point continuing to work out and have bought more Pt, because if I am going to have this surgery I have to be as fit as possible for a good and hopefully easy recovery.

This is Me!! I have put some pics on as well of what I look like now pretty much My hair is dark Brown now though but thats moi!!

just writing this has helped me. Looking forward to Surgery./ Recovery and maybe getting into the Boxing Ring next year! I need to lose over 1/2 my body weight....... Lisa
