My name is Tara and i have been overweight since about fourth grade. It was a gradual progression that got worse instead of better unfortunately. No one else in my family is overweight - just me. I was interested in having the surgery a few years ago but our insurance didn't cover it then. By the grace of God my husbands company was purchased by a larger company that had better insurance. My surgery date is scheduled for November 5th. I'll be having the gastric bypass at Reading Hospital. Dr. James Ku will be my surgeon.
I've tried so many different things and everything worked - for a while. I don't know that I have ever been as focused or determined to do something until I started this journey. I have three wonderful children and am married to a wonderful man. My whole family is extremely supportive of my decision so I can't wait to be on the road to recovery. My cousin Karen is also having surgery on October 22nd. We have been "chubby" together all our lives growing up. We - unfortunately - were the only ones.... So now we will take this journey together as well. I'm sure this one will have it's ups and downs as well but we'll have each other. We will know exactly what the other is going through. She's the one who told me about this site. She seems to have made some friends here and gotten some good advice from people so I'm hoping for the same.
