I'm a 45 year old woman born and raised in the south of Norway. When I was born I was underweight and very skinny even though I was born at term. I was skinny until I hit puberty at 10 years of age.
I became shy and withdrawn because my body looked like I was 17, but my mind was still a 10 year old. I was teased, and books and food became my new best friends. My weight went up and up.
When I was 13 years old I had to have surgery and the doctors put me on a diet with my mother's permission. They didn't tell me about it. I couldn't understand why they suddenly gave me so little and bland food. Remember this was in the 70's when weight loss diets often consisted of 1000 calories and no salt.
I used my weekly allowance to sneak down to the hospital canteen and buy extra food and sweets. The doctors couldn't understand why I didn't lose any weight. We now know why. 
I got married at 19 years of age. Unfortunately I had two miscarriages and didn't conceive again. The doctors didn't find out why and called it non-specific or unexplainable infertility. Well, they had to blame it on something and blamed it on my obesity. I should just lose weight and at least come under BMI 30. "It was just to eat less, exercise and use your willpower". We have all heard that tune before and know it is not that easy.
In 1991 I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2. For years I totally ignored my diabetes and never got control over it. Mainly because control over diabetes would mean control over my food intake.
To jumb over decades on a roller coaster and yoyo'ing I was divorced at 38.
In this modern day and age I met a guy in the net. I had for some years planned to travel around in Canada and used the net to get more info about the country. During this research I met HIM. I went over for a visit in 2002 to see the country and meet him in person. 
Well, I am still visiting and we got married in 2005.
We weigh the same, both are 5'5", same shoe size, obese, diabetes type 2 and hypertension. I call us the "Conjugal twins" because we have so much in common.
