So...let me see....
I'm just about to turn 36, and am in the beginning stages of getting approved for WLS. I've lost a significant amount of weight twice, only to gain it back plus more.
I am married to a wonderful man who also suffers from morbid obesity. We have a very happy life, but want it to be fuller and last a long time. It took us about a year and a half to decide that WLS was a possibility. Before that, we had been members at 3 different gyms and still had problems losing weight. It was out of this combined desire for health/vitality/long life and the frustration of being unable to have any substantive, long term weight loss that we came the decision to consider the surgery.
Other than that, I am currently working on a bachelor's degree (major: Society, Ethics & Human Behavior, minor: Human Rights), and hope to follow that up with a concurrent Masters of Public Administration and Juris Doctor. My ultimate goal is to work for an organiztion like Pride Foundation or the NAACP.
